So... 25 minutes of the phone, 23 minutes being me placed on hold, only to be told "I've sent an email to so-and-so and asked that they give you a call tomorrow and give you an update".

In other words.... No update.

Hi Aaroona,

How are the speedtest results now? Where is this song streaming from?

We made some changes to your connection Wednesday evening so am interested to see what affect it has had on the speedtests.

Thanks,
Joe.

Hi all,

Well I've had a bit of a play today, things seem to actually be working nicely. I can load a Facebook photo without loading like im on dialup.

I'll report back in a couple of days and let you know all know how its going, hoping its not just a short term thing!

Cheers

EDIT: oh and the song was coming from YouTube.

since last week's authentication outage my download speed has turned into utter s**t. b4 the outage i could always max my connection with http premium downloads 1.7MBbs all day long, no lag with youtube videos, now my downloads time out, speed is herrenderous low below 500KBps, low quality youtube videos require buffering it's unwatchable. router connection stats remain the same b4 and after the outage so the problem is clearly not equipment related.

Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]:948 / 17.663

OUCH!!

this is not normal. lol

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Okay, so I've been busy the last few days and haven't had time to respond.

I am now able to get full speed during the day, however, around 3-4pm it drops right off, youtube becomes pretty unusable, speeds for everything slow to a crawl - I believe this now to be a shaping issue as my national seems to stay okay.

The speed limiting lasts long into the night, past my bedtime so I wasn't able to see when it was lifted.
