Hi Seedicat,

These speeds and disconnection issues sound like nothing to do with the plan change, It sounds more like a line fault.

If you PM me your account details ill have a look,

Thanks,

Dear Slingshot Forum People,

I had Slingshot scheduled for installation today, and put and order request in mid January for a tentative end of February date ( house was pending settlement).

I confirmed the move several weeks ago, for 1st March, and have had several emails confirming this, however today I got a text/email:

"On 25 Dec 2019 Slingshot will be activating your new broadband services. Pretty soon you will be able to enjoy the exciting world of Slingshot broadband."

Apparently (according to the rep i just spoke to) they had my address as 371 not 377, and they can't get the technician to go back out today for some reason, the CS rep could only re-apply for my connection.

Surely this can't be the case and I have to wait days/weeks for another technician to go back out?

The rep was adamant he couldn't speak to anyone in provisioning or the technician.

Any chance you can assist?

We were scheduled to have our connection activated yesterday. The chorus guy came and set stuff up on the 28th and we already got the email saying it should be connected from you guys. We have a dsl sync but it's not connecting.

How long does it typically take to activate?

thanks

Hi Uluxus and mwilcox

If you can PM me your account details ill have a look at these issues for you.

mwilcox - It may be that the install has failed and we need to log a fault.

uluxus - That date is the date the system automatically puts a booking to when something goes wrong, Sadly the tech you spoke to is correct, We cannot just tell the tech the correct address, We need to close the original order with wholesale and create a new on so they can book the techs.

I can talk to provisioning so will do so to speed things up once I have your details,

Thanks,
Joe.

Great - just got another automated email.

On 06 Mar 2012 Slingshot will be activating your new broadband services. Pretty soon you will be able to enjoy the exciting world of Slingshot broadband.

Six weeks notice still isn't enough to get an install date or location correct, so no telecommunications for the whole weekend - not sure why I anticipated things would go smoothly.

Same thing happened to me; gave them 3 weeks notice and they still stuffed up; they even spelt my slingshot username wrong which they cannot change.
Took another weeks and a bit to get connected after shifting into my new house.

I don't know whats happened to Slingshot since around the outage. But my Internet has completely bombed out.

Im lucky to even get 1/4 of my line speed, let alone half of it LOCALLY. And it's not my connection. My connection is fine. Same as it always has been.

Facebook, YOUTUBE, emails, everything, sssslllloooowwww.

I simply can-not reccomend Slingshot at the moment.. this is appaling and I'm actually starting to shop around for a new ISP, cause this isnt on.

Yeah its unlimited, doesn't mean it should be unusable.

God forbid I surf geekzone at anytime after like 5pm at night - super slow, pages take forever to load.
Trademe, also slow.
Don't even get me started on google (you know, that really lite-search page?).

Well after a little over a week on the plan, numerous tests and general over-all experience...The AYCE plan is amazing!

We get full line speed 24/7, we can stream from over-seas, watch YouTube flawlessly and browse without a hitch.  There are 5 of us using the internet, and the only hitch we have had is our Dynalink router can't keep up and crashes every now and then.  Planning on buying a better router that can handle the traffic.

Service seems to vary a lot based on what I've read here in this thread, just as it did on similar unlimited plans in the past.  I have a friend on Slingshots naked broadband down south and he seems to be getting amazing service too.  He never sees anything lower than 1.5MB/s on his downloads at any time of the day.

Apart from the huge outage, I'm giving them 10/10.  You can't help hardware failure.

You can PM me if you wish.

Still heard nothing back from Slingshot, after being told someone would look into it and escalate for me.

Good stuff.

don't they typically recommend that you don't cancel your existing ISP account until you've got your new one up and running?

We've just been connected the other day and our internet is disappointingly slow in the evenings.
I'm only getting 60KB/s from sourceforge.

Speedtest:

I downloaded the Windows 8 preview at about 0100 this morning and it was going 1.2MB/s.
It changed quickly between going slow and fast as well.
Sync Rate is 11919/1029 Kbps
Also we're on the naked plan.
