the same ip address is still there though on the wired report when there is no teamviewer connection running or open on the system?
I have just done two identical captions using wired & wifi using that orcon link you mentioned above while running ShaPlus wired connection showed 30mb bandwidth but on the wifi test (obviously resetting itself when changing to the wifi connection) and shot up to 104.18mb bandwidth used yet the actual file captions show 36mb for the wired connection and 21mb for the wifi connection??

I think this is where I can back up cdrpnz as I think that ShaPlus meter gives a really accurate result. When I was also arguing with Orcon, I put into account that what if Shaplus was not giving a accurate result. So I decided to download DuMeter and another program I think it was BitMeter (not sure) to check if they all gave the same result which they did when I checked all three after a good days surfing.
I really think there should be a usage meter at router level (embedded in the firmware of orcon genius) which can give a more accurate figure of how much data has passed through the router. These days almost every modem/router comes with a meter of how much data has passed through it. Its a shame Orcon genius does not have this feature yet.
A usage meter on the router is an idea, it will not always tell you what is being sent to your IP though. So still room for error. It also has no reliable way to know what is zero rated and what is not.
Ok, But I guess it will give you a more accurate figure on how much data has gone through the genius then calculating how much data we have used on individual pcs?
Its also worth noting that on thursday last week we release usage alerts as well. If you are logged into my orcon down the left had side you will see "Broadband Data Usage Alerts", you can set two alerts to be sent to email, mobile or both.
It doesnt help know why you are using data but we hope it helps alert people sooner to any potential issue.
