Cool new wholesale plans released by Chorus...

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/news/article.cfm?c_id=3&objectid=11144771

I see the wholesale price is the same as the existing 30/10 price (but of course Snap will have extra data costs with that).

Bit concerned with the "from January" part though from stuffs article...

Thanks for the link to the articles - hadn't spotted this news.

I guess this will change the offering of 50/20 as a 'medium-speed' option, given it becomes the entry-level plan.

Can anyone (esp someone from Snap) advise on whether this new 50/20 base plan will be rolled out to those of us on the current base plan (30/10)?

Cheers
Jonathan

Hi guys

We're still to see any detail from Chorus about this, but they will be having a session with the industry in a couple of weeks. We'll need to wait until that happens and we have a bit more information from them before we can confirm exactly what we're doing.

Having said that, those faster speed plans look pretty exciting and we'll be keen to encourage uptake of those premium services.

Cheers
Ralph

Our local ISP Inspire offer a 50/10 plan. If this medium offering isn't available from Chorus does this mean they have to purchase 100/50 and throttle the plan back themselves?

Yes, and some ISPs are doing exactly that.

I would sign up today if it were available here. :(
Good to see the pricing finally up. Are there going to be any other new plans based on the other speeds that were announced? 100/100 or 200/100 would be nice.

Hey Ralph, we have just upgraded from Lightwave Home to Lightwave Deluxe, but upload speeds are almost exactly the same. Download is slightly better gone from 27Mbps to around 33Mbps.

Should I be expecting better? Otherwise will go back to Lightwave Home plan.
