nathan: Can you change to unlimited online? I couldn't see the option in my snap settings for VDSL account

RalphFromSnap: Woah, check out snap.co.nz!

Snap's unlimited plans have landed, and are available right now. No matter what service type you can get at your house, unlimited (and snap!) is there for you.

Not only is there no data cap, but no traffic management, no shaping or throttling and no fair use clause, so you can do whatever your heart desires at full speed!

If you are currently with us and want to change to one of the new options, then you will sadly need to wait until the end of your current billing cycle for the change to take effect. If you want us to make the change for you, give us a call on 0800 276 232 or message us with your account number and we will get on those quick smart.

boykunk: Did you guys decrease data on all plans at the same price, just to make up for the unlimited plan?

I can recall that UFB 100/50 have 150GB or 100GB @ $110?

Seems that way. I'm an existing customer that tried to sign up to the UFB Lightwave 100GB plan for $75 a month after being emailed about it on 7th May. Although I called them about it on the 8th, I left it for a few days to consider whether to go on an open, 1 year, or 2 year contract. Asked the rep on the 8th whether their 9th May limited time offer on the Ultra package (150GB, this was days before their unlimited plans came out) applied to the Home package as well, and was informed that no, plans could change at any time but only the Ultra had a set deadline. Seemed safe to assume I had a few days left to consider contract options...

Of course the powers that be then dropped the advertised 100GB to 80GB by the following week, so by the time I called to make the switch I had missed the boat.

Anybody quick enough to have gotten the better terms before data caps were dropped within days (existing OR new customers it seems) are in luck, if you didn't make the jump before they changed the plans, you're stuck with the less favourable options on the table now, unless you're prepared to spend more that is.

Legal? Sure. Fair and transparent with a focus on customer retention? Not so much...
