Agreed, anyone else get vanishing pins? (IOS)

Mine show for about 5 seconds then vanish until I manually move the map.

As an avid Ingress player I'm quite used to driving a circuitous route to grab portals in local parks etc, so I'm happy to jump out and walk a park (most pins seem furthest from the road) but quite frustrated to go out my way for a pin only to find its at the back of a high school property, and the required 10m from the pin is rather limiting in this way 🙄

Interestingly, today SWMBO finally booted into the app and spun to win after I got a decent 500mb bonus right where we just parked... but she had TWO (blue) pins in range and I had only one?
Are they randomly distributed/changed over time or do the just "stay put" in which case her map had updated after mine?

WOW! Wellington CBD is covered in them now, nice!

Just tried to get this working on an iPhone 4S, looks like the screen is too small, the next button isn't visible after inputting your phone number :( (phone number in the screenshot is a random one)

Partner loaded this on her phone this afternoon and looking at the map there were a few dotted around our area (Johnsonville/Newlands/Churton Park) so we decided to go for a drive and grab them just for something to do. They were all 20 or 30MB so hardly seemed worth it but got us out of the house for little while. Looks like there's loads in the CBD.

Thanks 2degrees for leaving 100Mb at my place. I didn't even need to leave my seat! laughing

She got the one in Johnsonville Mall this morning (in the foodcourt area which was closed by the time we went there last night) and it was 150MB so that's pretty good for free.

Once a pin has been swiped does it reload like a pokestop would or does it disappear for good?

You only get to score it once. :-)

Not necessarily :-)

I had a bug on the weekend where the last pin I hit showed up again later at my current location (not its original location), and allowed me to spin and score data again. I suspect it had something to do with the way the app was suspended, but I can't comment on exactly what as I wasn't in control of my phone at the time (I was driving, and my wife was operating my phone).

Awesome promotion, BTW. Both my wife and I don't really need this free data, as our carry over stuff keeps accruing (mine is currently up to 11.6 GB). But we're using it to top up our kids data, as they chew through theirs faster than I chew through a gluten-free Biofuel burger from Burgerfuel.

Got another 250MB from 3 spots in Porirua this afternoon (2 next to each other in the mall) when we had to go out there for an appointment.

My carryover Combo ran out yesterday and I didn't have enough credit, so my data and minutes went 'on hold'.  The thing is, the DataHunt data also goes on hold (unknown to me) and 2degress start charging Pay-as-you-go rates.  It took 30 minutes of arguing on their call center to get refunded. Their argument was that I should have known both DataHunt data and CarryoverCombo data are treated the same and both get put on hold together.  The bullsh*t part was that he had to put me on hold for 5 minutes while he found that out for himself.

Just figured out what was happening, turns out the font size was set way up for the phone, when I changed it down to normal it worked fine.

Partner has collected just over 1GB now from Johnsonville/Newlands/Churton Park, Porirua and Petone/Lower Hutt. Not yet had a reason to go into the CBD where there look to be loads on the map, so this does seem a pretty good promotion. Didn't seem that worth it when the first few were 20 or 30MB but she's since had a few that were 150 or 200MB.

Sorry to hear the agent took some time getting the info for you. This is available in our FAQ's on our Data Hunt page - 2degrees Data Hunt

Basically you need an active Carryover Combo running or Pay Monthly or Business Single Connect customer - Will I win Carryover Data with the Data Hunt App?

Otherwise Data Hunt data will last 1 month.

PM us if you have any specific queries or issues with your Data Hunt experience. We'll need your mobile number, phone make/model, OS version, location of any disputed Data Hunt pins and data and time of the issue.

Thanks

^POB

Thanks for the tips about it working for phone numbers other than your own.

GF out of data (streaming @ home while unfortunately not connected to the WIFI blew through the data, and credit, apparently without any warnings :-()

Visited a few spots yesterday and hit them once for me, and once for her.

Took a bit of extra time to log out and log in with the different number, but appeared to work fine.
