How much are you paying now? Slingshot's prices are a little on the high side from what I can see.

I currently pay $59.95 per month for unlimited broadband, a home phone and caller display etc.

You must be on the power + broadband plan. Give them a ring to change it to VDSL, you obviously cannot do it online.

Dumb question, but you do have the phone plugged into the DSL filter? That's the important part. The modem is actually connected straight through the filter.

Sounds like you'd be covered by 111 Access Code, and they should supply a UPS if you're on fibre or VoIP.

It looks like you're about $30 below slingshot's current listed price for that plan. If you've been with them for a while, you may be able to get them to give you a free upgrade to VDSL (and no UPS) or 100/20 fibre (with a UPS.

I did have a look at that 111 access code on their page and don't think I would qualify to be honest.

Nope, don't have power with them. I came from Flip.

Yes I did. I am pretty sure now the issue is the filter.... which is very very old. It's the Telequip DSL381 I got when I first got broadband with Spark many years ago.

Your modem can be connected directly to the jack even if you use the landline. It's the telephones that need to go through a filter.

Ask around on the local reddit or facebook group or friend circle and see if anyone has an ADSL filter you can nick.

It sounds like there is no central/master filter, the filter you have noted is a common inline one.

Hi, maybe I read it wrong, but on the Slingshot site unlimited ADSL/VDSL is $89.95 and unlimited Fibre is $84.95, or did I miss something. You do realise that the Chorus wholesale price of copper and fibre is weighted in favour of fibre to encourage uptake.

Cyril

As posted above I am on a good deal and pay $59.95 per month.

??? How can I use the phone when the modem is connected directly into the phone jack on the wall? I would have to go back to what it was before, using the line filter???

You need to get your wiring sorted then, you only have the special price as Flip stopped offering xDSL. You'll most likely never get unlimited broadband and a landline that cheap ever again, but there's still no harm asking to upgrade to VDSL for no extra cost.

Good luck to you and hope you get it sorted.

Connect the phone or modem to a different jack, or use a double adapter.

Hi, you either need to have a master filter installed, or get a replacement filter, these are readily available from the like of Mitre10

Thank you :-) I have a double phone adapter so am trying that now. The modem is looking like this currently. This has the modem directly into the jack point via the double adapter. And the phone line into the filter which is then into the other slot on the adapter. It will be interesting to see if the upstream number stays up over time with it set up like this. Thank you. Only problem is when I go to my modem it tells me the connection is not secure?

Flip was $59 unlimited because they are UCLL from the exchange (which also means you are not necessary be connected to your closest cabinet - to add to this the poor upload could be the DSLAM in the exchange faulty (if its not a chorus one)
