SaltyNZ:
*Postpay will be credited back on the next bill (I'm pretty sure they've now fixed the earlier problem where they were not picking up the credits).
I think they have, the bill from my recent Australian trip had several credits.

Ah, good. That would start to become a massive problem shortly otherwise with borders loosening.
iPad Pro 11" + iPhone 15 Pro Max + 2degrees 4tw!
These comments are my own and do not represent the opinions of 2degrees.
Just as a quick update to this; the issue does not seem to be resolved with 2Degrees. Recently been in AU and been pinged with the (now) $8/day charge despite no usage on the device. Some days I did use data, calls, txts and have been charged (fine). Other days still have the charge and no activity shows on my bill. Will see if anything gets refunded, but it seems a rather clunky system especially when spend control etc kicks in but shouldn't need to. It is also not consistent, as I was not pinged with a charge for every day that I was overseas.

If you're on account, I'd just wait until the end of the month. That was excatly my experience. However my next bill only showed charges for the days I did use the service. It seems 2degrees will put tempoary charge on your account (sort of like a credit card hold at the petrol station) when you connect to a roaming nextwork and reverse it later after checking if there were no activity (or leave the charge standing if there were activity). Perhaps make a note now of what days you did use data (and did not) and compare notes when you get your bill.
For pepay I don't know how it works.

I waited till my bill but nothing was temporary and I've been billed for the lot. I've queried it and will see what happens when (if?) I hear back. I've got notes and know what I used, so will see.
