nzbnw: I didn't say you did represent VF, I said I hope you didn't...

I just got the general vibe from your posts that you are genuinely annoyed at people posting about this, however that is only my interpretation, perhaps you didn't.

I don't have a problem with you or anyone posting, as above I just got the general vibe that there was an alteria motive. Apologises.

No dramas man...

Im just sick to death of

A) this constant call for regulation.. Its a freaking luxury item, all being driven by another telecommunications company, looking to increase their own bottom line.

and

B) People focusing on something as absurd as txt prices, when there are alot more pressing issues, with far more serious implications on society.

Food, power, and water being the main three.

Your posts were sensible, but some are outta control... All over a company not spending hundreds of thousands of dollars, so their phone will correct itself twice a year???? (and only old phones, as most modern ones do it themselves...My blackberry hasnt lost a second incl DST)

Anyone who knows anything about electronics would be aware that no crystal oscillator is perfect.  All clocks which are powered by such devices gain or lose a few seconds a day, and over a week or two, the error is noticeable.

So, it's not only twice per year that the phone corrects itself, it's every morning when I switch it on, so long as I'm on 2D's network.  Now that I am roaming again on Vodafone's network, that functionality is again absent, so the error will accumulate until such time as I connect to 2D's network again.

That is the full story, so for you to say that it's only old phones is simply not correct.  You are twisting the facts to suit your own agenda of downplaying the significance of the problem.

Others have pointed out above that Telecom and 2D both offer this service.  For Vodafone not to do so is simply penny-pinching, as is their $1 charge for customer service.  Once enough people have voted with their feet, they may see the error of their ways, but I'm not holding my breath.  The grass really is greener on 2D's side of the fence unless you are a BestMate customer.
