Well Im still waiting for the new prices to be put on the Webpage and then we shall see exactly whats going on cos at the moment it looks like Slingshot will undercut my current ISP (orcon) by $13 a month!!! for more or less the same thing!

So does this mean all the other ISPs will soon change their prices? Or whats the catch?

Called the call centre on friday night and asked a few questions and got all the answers I wanted so signed up online on Friday night about 7pm... Monday at about 2pm and everything is connected! Fast!

Speedtest on Orcon was always around 2mb/s... Slingshot is right now at 3.5 but earlier was getting up to 10...

I guess being locked in for 6-12 months is the bad bit but so far its all good and all for $13! less per month...

Im sure in time Orcon will be competitive in price again??? but maybe not...

Its only day one but so far Im quite satisfied with all aspects of Slingshot!

Here I was, frustrated XNet customer waiting and waiting for Scott to release the much anticipated new nDSL plans... and on the 18th of November 2009, I made the call to the sales team and couldn’t wait to join the Slingshot experience!!!

Guess what I’ve been told today after 3 calls to Slingshot’s sales team...
Slingshot is not interested in my business... Well to be more precise, they can/will not transfer me from XNet Naked ADSL to Slingshot Naked ADSL because my line is already digital and they could “apparently” only transfer analogue lines to their network.

So I’ve been told the only way for me to join slingshot was to phone XNet and ask them to put me back and an analogue line. Sounds easy doesn’t it?!?! So I phoned Xnet...

But alas, XNet told me that I need to phone the likes of Telecom and request a new ADSL line/ installation and only then could they “downgrade” me to an analogue plan. Of course all of this would require some sort of installation/connection fee here and there.  Yell

So in short... Slingshot said I need to switch my digital line to analogue just for them to switch it back to digital!!! Is it only me or does that sound ridiculous?

So Scott, what do you suppose I do? I was EXTREMELY keen to join your new plan(s) but it seems that you guys are just NOT willing to come to the party? Any feedback would be much appreciated!

Along the line of NDSL, do Slingshot offer NDSL for customers who don't have an activated phone line?

ie: The physical cabling is connected (and was working in the past, but has since had the Telecom POTS server disconnected).

That really sucks, Telecom is playing games and being anti completive and making NakeDSL users life more difficult than needed. Only having one change a month to a line is sad your have to, ndsl -> pots (1month), pots and then pots -> ndsl (1month). Should only take a few months, if all goes well.

Come on Telecom fix your broken system, and stop be so anticompetitive with your rude delays.

It can be done, just looks like there is some confusion.

The issue being, we have a lot of people contacting us to connect nDSL when they have no active services at all on the line. In that situation an active homeline is required.

Just signup online yourself and it should go through. PM me if it doesnt.

I'm going to update our website and inform the call centre of what that story is.

Ok... I've done yet another application via the internet and I've sent you the reference code etc...
I'm hoping/praying that it would work this time.

Will let all of you know (good or bad) if this happens for me!!!

Why is POTS a prerequisite to NDSL?

It's ridiculous that that something that's going to be turned off, cause hassle, and cost the customer more is required. Sounds like someone is giving the fingers to their customers who want a slightly different service.

As i believe, the pots requirement is because it takes too long to find out the required information for the correct wire pair going to your house. Makes it easier to say to telecom wholesale or chorus "just use the pair that number xxx-xxxx is attached to"

Hey people out there - I want to warn anyone thinking of moving your plan to slingshot.
For starters the customer service is pathetic and secondly be prepared to get billed even before your service commences !!

I signed up to their 'just Broadband plan' which is their NakedDSL plan. I had to contact their 0800 number at least 25 times before I could get my internet working. I had broadband and phone outage of three whole days. It took at least 20 of calls form me to get just the broadband going.

Now that the broadband is going I have to battle to get the italk (VoIP) service ported across. If you are signing to Slingshot for any plan, just be prepared to spend hours on the phone chasing on your case. I signed up for their plan on the 24th Nov, today being 7th of Dec and I still cant disconnect my old provider as they have not yet ported my phone lines. When I call them - at least on two occasions I was told by the call centre rep that I would have to select a new number for my res as they cannot port to my old number. When they say this (which I know is not correct), I just disconnect and try again hopeing that the next customer service rep is more informed about the plans they provide. This show the ignorance on the part of the people at the call centre. I've also noticed that they are not consistent with what they say so it is really hard to believe what they are saying.

And here is the icing on the cake - a bill arrived in my mailbox charging me for a service that has not yet commenced. When contacted they say that they bill in advance for any service they provide - but wait where is that service????

In all the whole experience of moving form xNet to Slingshot has bee really really painful and in the end I think it was not even worth the pain.

Here is the part of the BILL

Transaction History
Previous Balance         $0.00
Payments Received      $0.00
Latest Invoice             $72.28
Payments Received     $0.00
Current Balance Due    $72.28
Credits Pending          ($2.33)

Sounds very much like my first attempt… Feel your pain and frustration. Must say it does feel like there is a communication gap between the technical/marketing team and the sales team.

Thus far, my second application seems to be going through as promised (thanks Admin/Scott) with ETA being after lunch.
Will keep you posted.

Cheers.
