If my handset says 3G, does that mean I am in the 2D broadband zone?
I live in Laingholm, according to the map I am not covered but since 2D went live (testing) a couple of weeks ago I generally have it.

scottjpalmer: Next question: Is there any indication on the handset/USB modem console that you are in or out of the 2Degrees zone?

This is pretty essential IMHO

Well, I have a pretty flowchart that I sat down with Marketing and worked out, but the short story is that if you have no broadband bundle, it's the same as it is now.

When you buy a broadband bundle, we will lock it so you don't accidentally pay 50c/MB when moving out of the broadband zone. You can text "unlock" to 233 if/when you're happy for 50c/MB to apply. And you can lock it again by sending "lock" to 233.

The next time you try to use data outside the broadband zone, you'll get a text (once a day) to tell you either that we're using the 50MB pack and then 50c/MB, or just the 50MB pack (if you left it locked).

You won't receive any annoying texts when you use data in broadband zones.

iPad Pro 11" + iPhone 15 Pro Max + 2degrees 4tw!

These comments are my own and do not represent the opinions of 2degrees.

more Kudos to 2Degrees!

These guys are looking more and more appealing compared to VFNZ and Telecom.

How much of the company is actually NZ owned?

No that could mean you are roaming on Vodafone 3G

miguelwrang: Does anyone know if the vodems/tsticks can be used with 2degrees? Are they locked?

Not usually, I haven't seen a locked one yet . . .

If I have a broadband bundle, with no national data pack, and I inadvertedly move outside of the broadband zone, then I should get a text message warning me?  Is that correct?

If I choose to do nothing I pay 50c/MB, but I have the option at that point of buying a $6/50MB national data pack.  When I move back inside the broadband zone, data usage starts to come off the broadband pack again.  Correct?

Cool, that is a reasonably fail-safe solution. For us more switched on types, is there no way a subtle change can be displayed in the operator name field to indicate roaming?

Within the broadband zones, if a user happens to be in a pocket of no 2degrees coverage but there is Vodafone coverage, the device won't roam to VF? (adjacencies etc blah blah I kind of know what I am talking about :-) )

Hmmmm, can you throw up a photo for us?

I suspect this is very device specific. When I have been in Oz my Nokias have occassionally flicked between home (VFNZ) and roaming operator names but never showed a roaming indicator (although the phone knows it is roaming as there are settings such as "sync while roaming - yes or no"

still why NO AUTO Renew??

That's poorly written... What's the "Pack Name"?   Buy 512? Buy 512mb? Buy 2gb??

Yes, once a day.

Almost - by default we'll turn off 50c/MB the first time you buy a broadband bundle. The 50MB pack is used outside the broadband zone if you have it, and then you will either go to 50c/MB, or drop, depending on whether you left it locked or not.

But yes, once you move back into a broadband zone you will resume using the broadband bundle, no action required from you.

Hmm, I think it's phone/OS specific.. This was on a Winmo 6.1 phone. I know winmo 6.5 does it as well.
(There might be a setting you can change to tell you when you're roaming)

I know Android does the same thing..

See http://forums.t-mobile.com/t5/Frequently-Asked-Questions-FAQs/What-are-the-Android-display-screen-icons-and-what-do-they-mean/m-p/76626 and http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/v6-5/Status-indicator-icons-touch.aspx

Don't know about symbian or the iphone..
