jjero:  29$ plus two $6 data bundles would work well for me then.

Wow, a telco company actually listened to what we wanted?

Yikes, way to go 2D! Thanks for reading the surveys!

reven: make a $19 plan with 30 minutes, 50mb data, 200 texts (or 1000, wont use over 100) and im sold. or is that hoping for too much, my monthly phone bill for 2d is only about $14 so not sure if i should go on the $29 plan

Why would they offer that when the current prepay is basically the same or better value?  For $20, you get 100 free texts, you could spend $6 on the 50MB data, then $14 on calls (at worst 32 minutes, potentially more depending on landline/2 degrees etc).

these plans look great, well done!

Just one question that would decide whether I make the switch..
Outside of main centres is the vodafone roaming on 3G or is it 2G only?

All I can find on the website is "Outside our Mobile Broadband Zones we use 2G 900 MHz or 3G 2100MHz"

So I assume 2degrees doesn't use Vodafone's 3G 900MHz? :(

You use the local Vodafone coverage, 2G or 3G, whichever is available where you are.

thanks Salty, might be worth changing your website though...
I've always been put off the idea of switching to 2degrees thinking it was 2G only outside of their own network... sent the link for your new plans to a friend and he replied "afaik they don't roam on Vodafone 3G though?"

You know, I'm not really sure - I *think* they were looking at allowing passports in own-branded stores but I could be talking total rubbish.

There is 3G roaming on vodafone but that counts as national data, so you can't use the "broadband packs".

Where does it not say 3g nationwide?
http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/data-packs

Maybe they need to explain better on
http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/broadbandzones

It does take a few clicks around to find which could get people confused...

Really he is only paying $7 because of the awesome double top up!

How long does credit last on account when I bring it over from prepay?

I know a store is opening in Porirua and The hutt so Wgtn may get double top up again. and buying a heap of these top ups could mean half cost everything for a wee wile!

Well, it's an account credit, so presumably until your billable charges exceed the credit. But don't quote me on that!

convenience, and you dont get 100 free texts for $20 a month, you only get that if you top up every month, ie what if you already have credit?  i rather just pay a small monthly fee (even if im actually paying a little less), than worrying about every call/text/email i send/make costing me money.  i just think it would be a good option for a $19ish plan as well.

SteveON: Nice, throw in more data with that and I'll be happier, but the additional 50MB national data is pretty sweet. I hope that's an upgrade to the existing plan!

Everyone who is on the existing Pay Monthly plan will be automatically switched over.

I had an interesting experience today. I was in a cafe reading the Dom and decided to check my monthly plan usage. I discovered to my surprise that while I thought I had about 15MB of data left on my 50MB, the message showed 65MB available. Thinking that some sort of auto topup had taken place I was about to call the 2D call centre when I flipped the page of the paper to see the large 2D ad advertising the new rates and included data allocation with the plans. Nice one!

And it's nice that the bonus minutes are now aligned with the regular minutes and to make things align properly they are throwing one additional month of bonus minutes for those who are already on a monthly plan.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

Good work, 2degrees. Shaking up the market like this is just what the consumer needs.

Just one question - is it possible to switch between the different Pay Monthly plans using the My 2degrees facility, or does it have to be done by a call centre rep?

I believe you can do it on the web site.
