When the sites first come up, they will be barred from regular customers, so they should not affect you.

Looks like all the towers that have been setup so far have been turned on, iphone seems keen to connect to them but falls back to vodafone eventually

Just went past a tower being installed on top of a street light on old farm road, opposite the rugby club. Didn't get the chance to take a picture of it or catch the name of the contractors van.

Had 3 panels on top of the light, looked like a cylindrical cover would be going over them like vodafone has.

I noticed in the weekend 2 towers that have been built into a street light:
One at the Dinsdale round-about and the other on the corner of forest lake road and te-rapa straight

all got 4 panels with a cup of some sort at the bottom. Noticed the cabinet with them only seems half the size of the ones used in auckland. No microwave dishes on them as yet.

The extra panels on VF Nawton have been removed tho it appears the 2100mhz panels VF used have been pushed around a bit leaving a fair bit of room so I assume 2deg panels are going on there

2nd site has just been put up just across the road from the aforementioned one, on old farm road. Again on top of a streetlight.

They had a setup like that on the VF Nawton site but since disappeared but it looks like the 2100mhz panels for VF have been pushed around leaving a far gap, I assume 2D will mount their stuff there.

I did a network scan at the base yesterday and couldn't find 2deg

I noticed they got all the 2100mhz ones before their 900mhz GSM ones, tho I noticed a few sites like the Nawton one has 2 frequencies in the 900mhz range, I'm wondering if they could be trying 900mhz umts also?

Looks like they been pretty quick to build sites and get testing underway (my iphone has found their network for a few weeks now), starting to wonder when they have in mind for commercial launch?

If you've been to the Te Awa mall where they have a kiosk it looks like they are going to open a proper store in the last section being built so if they tie it in with that I'm guessing within the next 8 or so weeks

Are they doing the whole journey between AK and HAM? Would have thought that there would be a good case for doing hampton downs etc even if they leave the rest of the route roaming on VF.
