langers1972: Has anyone noticed an improvement in Wifi stability post update as this was what I was hanging out for as it was pretty hopeless before, have to say I've not noticed anything changing?

My wifi quite often disconnects and when you look at the connections it has my SSID in there rememebered OK but disabled and it doesn't reconnect which was the problem prior to upgrade.

Have to say this issue alone is starting to make me question whether to persevere with the X5 or jump to another handset.

@langers1972 yes I've found the wifi to be much improved - it connects to known AP's fine and seems to idle off to sleep and wake up perfectly.  It used to do exactly what you describe.

I've tried a number of wifi fixes before updating, so perhaps one of resolved the issue.  The one I'd say to try is in the android market, simply called "wifi fixer".  Doesn't need root.

FWIW if you do change handsets, my wife has an LG P500, and the wifi on there has worked perfectly from the moment we got it.  After the B136 update on my X5, they now both operate in the same way.  Battery life on her P500 is about 20% better (exactly as expected with an 800MHz unit vs the 1GHz of the X5, and smaller screen).

openmedia: Anyone had issues using a Nokia headset with the X5. I usually keep my Original headset at home and an old Nokia one at work. Until I did the upgrade the Nokia 3.5mm headset worked fine, and the audio quality was much better than the supplied Ideos headset.

Since upgrading the firmware the audio is dreadful unless I press the microphone button which is a bit odd.

Tried a generic 3rd party headset in the 2degrees shop in Wellington today and it worked, so I'm more than a bit puzzled.

Just tried a different Nokia headset and this one works fine, so I have a feeling the issue might have been headset related rather than firmware/phone.

Plus taking a second look at the problematic headset I have a feeling it was a blackberry one and not nokia.

@ langers1972 Have you tried Settings > Wireless & networks >Wifi settings > press menu button > Advanced >Wifi sleep policy > Never.

This should solve your issue if you haven't tried the above steps.

Battery life seems better, which I attribute to the better wifi management.

Mine seems to be running better then before the update. The screen scrolls smoother and load times seem shorter.

Of course that could all be in my head but I don't think so.

Hi there, the Wi-Fi hotspot software has now arrived for the IDEOS X5.

Apologies for the delay to this. Updating is quick and easy. For more info on how to download go to www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/settings.

Cheers

It may be a coincidence but before the update the GPS on mine would take an age to get a lock but it gets a lock significantly faster now and even it gets a lock in places it wouldn't before.

The Hotspot update is great but has anyone noticed how long it takes for other devices to connect to the internet through it? My Compaq with Win7 takes as long as 4 minutes.
Are there any settings that need to be tweeked?

Thanks
Phil
