At least international at local speeds are the same now, Hey Mine have improved from a F to a F+

Well at least there is 16 % of New Zealand slower than me. They are probably out in the sticks or testing on mobile .  Now my New Zealand is stuffed I can't even surf to Auckland and out of the country via a proxy :(

Orcons lack of service is getting attention.

http://www.nbr.co.nz/article/orcon-pulls-back-genius-after-customer-complaints-aw-99826  Geek zone gets a mention  2011 seems things are not progressing too quickly

One word OVER SUBSCRIBED  Comes to mind   Now I wish I never complained at least I would have still have some local speed.

Hi Allan, that is an article from 2011 ;-)

I have been buried in my day job for a couple of days, has a technician been back out to you?

As FireEngine is mentioned, the speed issues you are having are due to a local line issue.

Our network is not congested. FireEngine will get your line sorted and you should be back to having good speeds again.

One of our bandwidth supplies has let us down majorly, so this hasn't been completed yet.

The hope is we will have it upgraded mid next week. You should see some major improvements to Australian destinations. Back to what they should be :-)

Wow. I can't believe I have only just found this thread. I have had calls logged with Orcon for months about this issue, with no resolution. It had been forgotten on their end until just recently too.
Local speeds are fine for me, but international traffic just seems painfully slow - buffering, stuttering, slow loads for anything that isn't in a local CDN. Australia seems worse to reach than the States.
Are any other ISP's any better with international speeds? Any idea when this may be resolved, if this in fact the issue?

Dude....read back a few pages where you see Telecom users posting their speeds in the eve......it's Orcon. They will probably tell you you have a line fault (like me)....with no actual plan/action. I am still waiting after months to get a straight answer to my slow dial up like speeds at night. Was'nt always like this....seems theyve gone and cocked things up bandwidth wise.....and are 'working on it'......apparently its an issue with Australian bandwidth that will be fixed 'next week'........ .

They said that last week....and the week before.....I can see a pattern emerging....and Telecom VDSL in the distance... .

scotsman, there's already a well known and wlel talked about issue with australia traffic, the line fault was with someone having issues with nz traffic.
