nickb800:
richms: Anyone know how to use this to get the US apps onto a NZ purchased samsung TV instead of the useless ones we get on them?

See here, the article starts by showing how to set a custom DNS (already done for you by Slingshot) and moves onto a key combination to change countries. Allow up to half an hour for it to update after changing.

Warning, you will loose access to the TVNZ onDemand app (haha)

you can try to hack ur tv  also - im not liable just suggesting btw its amazing after u hack it u can pretty much remove all the drm crap and use pvr recording and watch on comp share etc.

if you want to hack the tv this is some info i used

Netflix won't load on the TV. Hulu works but was really choppy playing the ads but the macgyver ep I played worked fine.

Quite ironic that when trying to access my account from work, I am informed by Slingshot that I can't access my account page from a non-NZ-based computer.

I'm in Auckland. I work for an AU organisation. Our server presumably is in AU.

Funny though, that they enable the use of sites globally, and yet don't allow access from a global location.

What a bold move! Will be interesting to see how this develops, and if others follow suit.

Has anyone gotten BBC iPlayer working?  I have Hulu and Southpark studios working so I think global mode is active and doing it's stuff, but can't play a video successfully with iPlayer.

Does anyone know if having a fixed IP with slingshot prevents this from working?  I assume it would and I'm not sure it's working and therefore would assume I need to remove my fixed IP Grrr. :(

My Samsung smart is hopeless on Netflix. I gave up and now just access it through the htpc

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

I might give my android TV box a shot but it means putting another access point in since its WiFi only.

Just watched a 15 sec ad in n about 3 mins because it was constantly buffering on the TV.

So does anyone have a good site that we can go to and check it's working?  Get's a bit confusing with Google's presence that already knows everything about you....

Netflix will do it - if it isn't working you will get a 'not available in your country yet'; if it is working you should see options to signup

Then I guess it's working.  A few other things I've tried have clearly been a bit too clever.

Hulu is only barely playing the crappest quality. Will try a direct cable to the slingshot router and not the rest of the man in the way later. Watching SD is ickky.

I get the same streaming South Park, but I'd need a much faster connection in order to test this further.

I can report the same.
When I select the Netflix app, just sits there forever "connecting".
