D1NZ: Update: 18/11/2014

Received an odd e-mail from Enable today, within the e-mail it's a new UFB install Order. cry

And the order address it's not mine, called Snap asked them what's going on, looks like Enable had my e-mail mixed up with somebody else's

Enable got my e-mail right my first name and last name right, Snap RSP told me to e-mail them back tell them what happened, Done that.

Also asked Snap if my order of 200/200 went through, tech checked and told me the order has been done, hasn't seen any speed change on my upload yet tho.

P.S. 2nd UFB line for me, I will run it in fail over or load balance with my pfSense box. tongue-out
OKOK maybe redundant internet connection usually from different ISP still just daydreaming. tongue-out

Hi D1NZ,

Apologies for the confusion, Enable did send that email in error.
Your 200/200 order has not completed just yet sorry, its scheduled for tomorrow. I'm keeping a close eye on it smile

Cheers
^RO

Thank you Ralph

Hi D1NZ - is your 200/200 connection now up and running?

No, Not yet, I have called Snap around 7pm tonight, and CSR checked for me saying it's all go on their end but Enable probably hasn't done on their end yet.
And all the prevision team member CSR are off clock, so best thing to do now it's wait till tomorrow see if upload speed goes up, if not call them again tomorrow when I can reach one of the prevision team CSR.

Also on that note, I remember my 200/20 upgrade kicked in almost mid-night, so I will wait and see tonight.

Got my upgraded today. A txt came in and told me it was complete. My account has also changed to the appropriate billing too.
1 small problem is that I got 20 instead of 200 mbps upload. Don't know if this is just a common mistake or temporary.

If anyone in CHCH that is getting the 200 ultra lightwave upgrade, please post here if you too get 200/20 for the time being.

I got those exact same speeds when testing to the Snap! speedtest server. That's why I used CityLink in Wellington.

Just some speedtests I did on the 200/20 plans for different places around the world, then more specifically in California where the sub marine fibre line lands from Auckland. Just incase people who are interested in the plans are interested how latency and speeds depreciate over continents. What's cool to see is there doesn't seem much of a drop across the pond to Sydney.

Due to the exceptionally poor connectivity in the US (particularly California) tests to various servers in California will deliver very different results.

The weakest link isn't NZ or SXC (but is TCP scaling on some tests). Most however are the terrible internet in the USA.

Absolutely agree.

a spot of tweaking on the TCP scaling factors and a substantial consistent improvement can often be seen from 'stock standard'
