Did see a newspaper article that said they are going to compare the databases of both companies. To see what people are signed up to both Snap and 2d. Im one of those people myself. So will post back if I receive any offers or similar.

Email today from Snap, pretty much nothing we didn't already know:

Hi there,

You may have already heard the great news - soon we’ll be joining forces with 2degrees to bring Kiwis a complete mobile and broadband solution.

We’re really excited to be merging with NZ’s best value mobile network and you can rest easy, knowing that nothing will change for you other than changing our name to 2degrees Broadband. You’ll still be supported by our same great team, and our same fantastic network built to service customers up and down the country.

We’re working on some great new plans and offers which we’ll be ready to tell you about in the next few months, but even once they launch you can stay on your current plan if you choose to.

You’ll start to see a few changes to your invoices, our website and other communications from us, but if you need to get in touch with us for anything broadband related, we’re still here on the same number to help you.

When our new plans are ready to go we will be in touch.

Thanks,
The Team at Snap (soon to be 2degrees Broadband)

Kinda sad to see the 'snap' name go away, was always good for a pun or two..

Is this a valid reason to get out of a contract term?
I can't stand 2degrees.

Me: our internet is soon going to be with "2degrees Broadband"
Partner: eww what? Can't you just change to BigPipe?

It is not just me disgusted with the name.

Well, we parted ways 6 months ago, so if that's your only objection then you should be fine.

I was with 2D, but their data coverage is significantly worse than other companies, and they prevent roaming to other carriers within an area they claim to cover but don't really. 2D customer service I found pretty good. No way I'd switch back to them though, because of coverage and their policies in that area. I'll stay with Snap broadband so long as they continue to be good, both in terms of customer service and Internet performance. Good to know there are options good though.

I think you'll find that neither Spark nor Vodafone will let you roam onto the other's network in places where their coverage isn't that great, either. The word 'blackspot' wasn't invented for 2degrees. :-) But we are lucky to live somewhere where you can easily switch to another carrier if you live or work in a place where your current carrier has poor coverage. Yay, number portability.

Next up: email address and bank account number portability.

True, but VF/S tend to have much better coverage - though I haven't checked in a while. Ohariu Valley was one example.

Hope there'll be some good combos for having both broadband and mobile with 2degrees.

I'm hoping so too. I'm currently looking at UFB plans as I'll (hopefully) be able in get UFB in a couple of months or so. The snap plans for unlimited UFB just don't look competitive at all.
