credit cards are more convenient, safer, and rewards customers.
Where do you think those rewards were coming from? From your wallet to your wallet, with a bit skimmed off the top. CC reward schemes are not a deal for you. I also found convenience the same, just type in bank account number and check the checkboxes.
The only point I really agree with is the fear of overdraft fees, but that sounds like an issue you should solve with budgeting, not easy access to credit. Not trying to judge, but budgeting is free and CC aren't, not to mention the temptation of spending more than you can afford.
credit cards can be free for consumers, companies no, they get charged a fee, but they make it easier for their customer meaning a happier customer meaning more likely for repeat business. I understand large transactions charging a CC fee (for example, I bought a $5000 wardrobe from wardrobe plus, they charged a 2% CC fee, which is fine, thats a large dent for them).
every year my CC costs me nothing and I get about $300 back in cash back. so yeah, cc == I'm happy, direct debit == I'll go elsewhere.
obviously theres plenty of people here who agree CC fees are bad. theres plenty that disagree too. and the end of the day its 2Degrees decision, i just think its a poor one and will make me change to bigpipe.
