cokemaster: I doubt they’ll do esim ahead of 5G

Yeah I was kinda suspecting that - I guess its Spark or Vodafone then, and as I want Prepay only that means Spark... 😞 At least there will be some 5G I guess...

Thanks @SaltyNZ. Just as an aside does 2degrees use CDMA (in the sense that Apple FAQ says iPhone using dual sims from different providers can't both be CDMA)? TIA.

No, we're a 3GPP shop here. CDMA is primarily a North American standard. The 2G network Spark ran prior to building their current one was CDMA though.

Someone working for 2D said that esim would be release near the end of the year.

Any chance you have a source? Trying not to get overly excited that the end (of my exile) is nigh

It was stated by @Morganbrowne, one of the people that work for 2degrees. I can’t remember which Geekzone thread she posted that info about ESim coming out near the end of the year.

Hiya

The team know you'd love to see eSIM so they're actively working on it. We're hoping/aiming for by the end of the year based on our roadmap, but like any new tech, no guarantees on specific dates or timeframes :)

Cheers,

Awesome! Even if you have a few delays that's the first definitive "we're working on it and it's coming XYZ" statement I've seen. Thanks a lot! :)

I am curious on the tech for esim and why its such a drama to implement.

I have had my spark esim for over a year I think.

Not a dig at 2deg by any means I just wondered what is involved ??

Hey @morganbrowne I see you don't mention the end of which year you are hoping to achieve rollout of eSIM by...could you narrow that down a tad?
