Hi - My broadband performance seems to have deteriorated over the last month.

From consistent local (and good) performance of
12738kbps 28/9 thru
12712kbss on 1/10 then
10968kbps on 18/10 then
 9289kbps on 20/10 then
 5490kpbs on 23/10 now

Currently the International (San JosE) performance is 319kpbs - atrocious...

Please please note how frustrating these performance issues are.

Hmm, the issue has resurfaced.  However it seems inconsistent for me.  On speedtest.net to LA, I've had 300kbps, 2000kbps, 5000kbps all the space of 5 minutes.

yay for orcon!

I restart my router...

And it goes all fine and dandy for all of a minute.

And then onto this.

And lastly my ping goes up somemore

._.!

Granted its not as bad as some others, the 300 ping is anoying when trying to game.

Although this is worrying; im getting faster speeds internationally than loccaly? o.O!

But these two are more like it:

Oh well, emailing support team time

Results I am currently receiving.  International traffic still degraded for me:

For me this isnt something that just started happening in the last few nights. This has been going on for months now.
Soon as it gets to 4pm speeds drop from 1.6mb/sec to 250k/sec and steadly get worse throughout the evening, wake up in the morning its back to normal.

I can only assume they have decided to pile heavy users into one group and "traffic manage" them, kind of a shame since im spending over $100 a month to get such poor service. An email from orcon explaining that this is happening would be nice, with a list of options for me to choose. Im happy to pay more to get a decent service or maybe they should remove those 100gb data options from the packages if they dont have the bandwidth to support them.

Actually it looks like things might improve after the 23 of November, orcon are introducing a cap to the zeroshock plans :)
Should stop people like this muppet abusing the plan.

Hmm! Let's hope it makes a difference.

350gb in a month? That's one dedicated pirate. Get a life.

It's because of greedy pricks like that that we have to pay for everything we use, and have caps and overage charges.

It's like when you go to a bar and some clown orders a $15 whisky every round, then bails when his round comes up or whinges about the bill.

My connection has been sweet. It does slow down a little later at night, but that's expected- torrenting time is bound to have an effect.

So far it's running better than when I was with Slingshot, Xtra, or Xnet.

Duncan Blair - where are you now?

For so long Orcon customers where complaining about international speed issues and still no solution.
Orcon support staff is just spining us and the results are getting worst.

I can see you where active on other posts but not on this one !

It would be fair to admit that Orcon international bandwiidth is overselled OR orcon does not know how to setup routing/int. traffic priority ?

When you see such huge difference in Download & Upload speeds between New Zealand vs USA/Australia destinations, then you know for sure that Orcon have too slow/overused/overselled international pipes. They have offered us MORE then they can GIVE/Provide!

To hope that they will fix this and we will have >>THE SAME SPEED<< outside NZ like we have in NZ?  YEAH RIGHT - TUI(ORCON) !Laughing
