Linux:

With iOS 14.5 out would be good to know if VoLTE is now approved for 2d devices!

Just checked and unfortunately no, the warning still pops up.

Carrier Bundle is now ver 46 but nothing seems different, still no indication of my phone using VoLTE

@morganbrowne had hoped with the release of iOS 14.5 we'd see VoLTE approved on 2degrees but still getting that warning popping up plus no indication my phone is using VoLTE (Wellington Region).

Is there any news on the rollout?

@DjShadow I know 100% for sure (excluding RCG sites) that VoLTE is only live North of Puhoi

Edit: So South of Puhoi zero VoLTE

Hiya, VoLTE is only live north of Auckland (Puhoi and up) at this stage but we'll be gradually rolling it out this year. We don't have specific timelines for regions we're able to announce at this stage. To make sure your device is ready for VoLTE when it's available in your region, you can check your device status here: https://www.2degrees.nz/help/mobile-help/calling-features/phones-compatible-with-volte-and-wifi-calling

I'm really starting to get the feeling of "If Spark rolls out something new, Vodafone will implement it within a few months and 2degrees a few years later".

Hey, that's hardly fair - who was the first (and only) to roll out WiFi calling? ;)

@DjShadow Just had a thought with 2degrees changing RAN vendor from Huawei to Ericsson why would you enable this on your current vendors hardware!

I could be wrong but I am sure it will be related

I'll give Wifi Calling, the other 2 are still figuring it out I understand (Spark accidently published a webpage about it last year and Vodafone are launching it sometime this year), but in saying that I have Wifi Calling turned off as it doesn't help the ongoing Sound Qual issues

But you have to understand the point as a consumer that if the 3 main telcos don't keep up with each other then a sharp sales person for Spark or Vodafone could win a customer over by simply saying "the 2degrees network isn't capable of x, y and z but ours is and here is the benefit to you". I've seen comments in other threads where people have jumped ship just to get better sound qual.

That is a very logical update but I believe the press release said not all towers are being changed from Huawei kit

iOS 14.6 dropped this morning, still showing Carrier Bundle 46 and 2D still not certified for VoLTE

I believe there is going to be iOS 14.7 before 15 comes out

2degrees VoLTE page shows estimated September (certification enables the older iPhone models to work).

Good to see a bunch of Oppo devices added to the VoLTE approved list.

End of September would be roughly be when iOS 15 would be available to download/install.

Just noticed this page has had a re-write, looks more tidy now: Find out about VoLTE | 2degrees

I note the bottom comment about maybe needing our Sim cards to have VoLTE enabled on them, can I assume this should be enabled by default or worth getting Customer Care to check?

btw Still no VoLTE in Wellington / Hutt Valley and iOS still saying 2degrees is not certified.

3 of my sims are up for the yearly topup soon. If I cant make a usable call over the 3g network that I am paying access for on a basic 3g phone at that time I will be moving them to vodafone. Yeah, they are only a $20 a year spend but when I have to use them on the odd occasion to present the right number on a call, I want to be able to hear.

@DjShadow Where does it advise no VoLTE coverage in Auckland & Wellington ETC.......?

Think about how many end users in these locations are trying to get VoLTE sorted and the only issue is the feature is not enabled on the network side
