MattR:

Looks like I was migrated last night. PPPoE hasn't dropped, but I see the new BNG on a PPPoE scan in my Mikrotik.

Another user migrated here last night too.

Thanks to this thread, and other posts here, I was aware it was coming. My PPPoE on my Mikrotik router dropped and could not reconnect at all. Reconfigured for DHCP. Thankfully it seems my fixed IPv4 and IPv6 prefix remain.

I did receive and email this morning about "changes behind the scenes" and information on a new account number. Nothing about changes to connectivity though.

It appears my line was migrated over night as well. It came back up on PPPoE. My static allocations appear to have followed, however I have lost v6 connectivity. I'll look at swapping my router over to DHCP this evening.

Edit: Pings have also increased. Previously it'd always be in the 1-2ms range to Cloudflare. Now it's 5-6ms. Curious.

Ok, my link did drop - the ethernet port on the ONT went off at 07:00:06 and PPPoE came back up at 07:00:20. Static IPv4 & v6 working as normal via PPPoE. I'll give DHCP a try when I get home.

Sounddude:

Hi Team

For the record, the new 2degrees network (ex Vocus network) supports both DHCP and PPPoE. There isn't a need to change to DHCP.

@Sounddude

VLan 10 required for both?

Moving from Skinny (no Vlan) to 2degrees shortly.

I may not be home on the day of the change.

Maybe I can remote access my router in the early hours on the day of the change - setup DHCP and Vlan 10 - save and keep my fingers crossed that the 2degrees network will startup 😄

My first ever AM radio network connection was with a 1MHz AM crystal(OA91) radio receiver.

Mined turned out to be an unfortunate Chorus failure during the same day... back up about 4 hours later but now on DHCP.

I've been with 2degrees for 5 years, I have a static IP, and use a grandstream router. I tried to get IPV6 working initially but gave up as I couldn't make it work. Most of this thread is technically beyond me, but could my connection be effected by this is or is it just relevant to vocus customers? I've been having issues with my fibre connection the last few weeks with things not working properly, or being very slow, and as far as I'm aware there hasn't been any changes to my setup, I haven't upgraded firmware or anything. I'm having a hard time figuring out where to start chasing the issue down and where to start.

I still have no DHCP... Tested just now.

It would be nice to be told when changes will happen.

So basically four weeks after the migration to the new network, my issue is finally resolved.

4+ calls to contact centre plus 10-20 hours of trying to get it work...

The issue was old static IP was on the old snap network, and IPv6 was populated with my IPv4 address.

First call today they allocated me a new IPv4 and IPv6 static address (two prior calls didn't do this as didn't know how or impacts of pressing this button in the backend).

BuT the provision didn't work this morning properly (was meant to be a 15-20 min change). 5 hours later still hadn't been fixed.

Call number 2 today, finally had them kick my session on their end.

Power cycle of router finally got the new IPv4 and IPv6 addressing working.

In short VERY disappointing experience and really limited skill and understanding in the contact centre to manage the migration and issues from old to new network.

As soon as was fixed, my internet speeds/browsing sites has increased (as assume ipv6 no longer erroring and slowing it all down).

Now running on DHCP - no idea if pppoe is working.

@freitasm - you may have similar issues if you had a static IP address and been there 3+ years and were cycled from static to cg-nat to static on snap side.

Since there is a tendency for people to only post the bad stuff in threads like this. I'd like to post my migration experience. I'm a customer from the snap days with a static ipv4/ipv6 address/range. Got migrated two days ago. Apart from having to restart my router when it happened. The migration has been seemless. I am still getting my static ips and both pppoe and dhcp are working as expected. So there is hope for you rest of you that your migrations might go as badly as some have.

No... Is there one then? How far in advance would it be sent?

Ideally, there would be an email saying "We are planning to do this with your connection and you will be advised before" then a second one with "We will be doing this on such date."

AFAIC I have not received any notice that anything would be changing (yes, I know it will at some point but not because of comms).

My notice was sent out after I was migrated but the same day.

The email is sent when 2degrees does the changeover I'd guess. Others ITT have reported receiving it at the same time as their network drops.

I agree with your other points...
