I recently switched from Orcon (great service) to 2degrees for their Hyperfibre offering. Before making the move, I had a few queries which were answered and assured would not be an issue. One key concern I raised was about port filtering—2degrees informed me that they had disabled it because it caused problems in the past. However, after joining, I’ve found that port filtering is still enabled. I’ve checked and rechecked, but it remains active.

Since switching, the customer service experience has been quite disappointing, unfortunately. I’m now wondering if there’s a workaround for this issue. The ONT installed by chorus is the Nokia XS-250WX-A, and the router is the new TP-Link HB810 (installed before the switch to 2 degrees on the next day, and worked fine with my port forwarding etc). Additionally, I’ve encountered another problem: the Virtual Servers configuration on the router isn’t taking effect.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I thought 2Degrees used CG-NAT by default, do you have a static public address??

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

I would assume they did, I do not have a static IP address as that will cost more. This was not the issue with Orcon, and during the sale pitch, 2 degrees said nothing of having to get the static IP address.

If you are behind cg-nat, which you are, then forwarded ports cannot possibly work.

Thank you for the reply. Is any of these (dynamic dns services): Dynodns or no-ip a good option that would work in this case, or I am stuck with buying static ip through 2 degrees?

CG-NAT is equivalent of another NAT router in the way, dynamic DNS can NOT help.
