jbard: Yeah i was abusing it, but i thought it was worth it for a free phone.

Nothing is free in this world. Telecom are paying for that phone, which in turn you're paying for using other Telecom products in services to recover the money they're losing with people abusing the TXT plan.

Which might make them more keen on BAK :P

Or even more opposed to it. BAK is fine in a world where traffic flows are even, if there are uneven traffic flows it's no longer a fair system.

So anyone here got their phones from 2degrees?

I want to know, which company is delivering them (CourierPost, NZC, etc), and whether its signature required?

Couriers often do not leave stuff at the door, sometimes even just pull up, fill out CTC, put in mailbox and drive off.

Yeah i haven't got mine yet either although on their twitter i think they said most had been sent out and the rest would leave early this week.

Would also like to know who is delivering and if it is signature required?

Sigh.

I know, let's design a competition to screw over the majority of the country who have to pay for their rates.

Let's especially screw those people who are on fixed term contracts with reasonably large termination costs.

Guh. A few ruining it for the rest of us.

High MTR's are a barrier to entry for new entrants and thus reduce competition.

Some regulation is needed in natural duopoly/oligopoly style markets like mobile to avoid the incumbents running wild with protectionism.

MTR's should reflect real costs of termination.

BAK is not a magic bullet there are significant pro's AND cons of that system.

One of these days, Telecom is just going to declare that no text messages will be delivered to 2degrees customers during a txt me race.

I am sure they can deploy a proper AUP for txting to 2 degrees like no more than a certain number of non replied texts in a certain timeframe etc.

If you are losing money on someone because they are abusing 5000 texts to freeload phones, then is it really a loss if they move somewhere else? The sort of person who is going to dick around with textme races is not the sort of person that is likely to become a big spender.

Hopefully people are sensible enough to have realised this already, but for anyone who hasn?t made the connection please do not participate in the textmerace at this time. Due to the earthquake the networks are fragile enough right now without tens of thousands of unnecessary txts being sent.

(note that 2D have sensibly suspended the textmerace, so it won?t count anyway)
