And heres trying to download an attachment from my Gmail account at 8:30 tonight in Dunedin (Orcon FS/FS)

nextothemoon,yes i see what your getting here but no it isnt my line because i usually get 3mb-2mb when it isnt on peak time. which is generally anytime before 7pm

You may want to try a download manager, I use and suggest Metaproducts Download Express.

Then you can alter the number of simultaneous download threads.

I'm just saying I'm out in the sticks and can stream Youtube well. I get 300kbs-1000kbs while Youtubing and if anyone gets less than that with Orcon (or any other ISP) they definitely should be complaining... that's not even close to .25MB/s.

It really doesn't take much of a connection to stream YouTube.

I did try the file with a download manager as well, it only ever got upto 30k in speed
I dont mind using a download manager for large files, but for a 6mb avi from google? you would think there would at least be some decent speed there

very odd, its 7.25pm and my speedtest results..I have yet to go on ventrilo or Warcraft,let's see how it goes..

8.38pm looks way better than last night! We'll see how Warhammer aussie servers & ventrillo go tonight

Edit: well have to try again tomorrow night. The servers are down for maintenance.

Must depend where you live. I'm in Papatoetoe, Auckland and last nite was the slowest i've seen orcon for about 2 years. Local speed test said 1900 Kb down and international downloads from a site that normally runs at 3Mb was running at about 350Kb. I gave up trying to listen to online radio..

I've had a look in my DSL router status page and noticed that Interleaving is ON.

Searched Orcon's page and found this:

Hmm so the default is off, wonder why mine got turned on? Hmm maybe turning it off might help me? I've sent an email to support to get it turned off. Hopefully not a long wait

hi guys

not sure what your experience has been with ADSL2.since moving to ADSL2 ive had nothing but problems with my ping,i use skype quite abit and my ping as gone from 300 to 700 when calling poland (wroclaw) as u can imagine this makes it nearly impossibe to use a web cam.i had a ticket with orcon to try and fix this,no such luck

last night and today ive been trying to play COD4 on internode servers my ping as gone from 50-80 to 190-250.

oh yeah i read in PC World(last months i think) that orcon has been having trouble with its international traffic for a while now and they have no idea how to fix it,even after buying in more bandwidth

these issues have been on going for over a month now and im sick of ringing orcon about it,since moving to orcon 7 months ago im constantly on the the phone to orcon about one problem or another
starting to regret moving to orcon.

sorry for the vent but ive had enough
