DjShadow: Is the intention of this app to just be an extension of the genius unit or can it be used as your primary landline phone?
e.g using a router with no VoIP ports/ability and all landline calls find their way to the app?

Of course keeping your phone charged up will be the main thing to watch

You can do that now :-) Just don't plug a phone into your router and only answer your app.

Sorry a little OT but will this mean say if we signed up to UFB once available we can use our own router or still need a genius one?
I carry my mobile with me everywhere and this is a great way to eliminate the need of a cordless phone in our place.

I haven't had a good play with it yet, but if my phone is locked I don't seem to get the calls coming through. As soon as I unlock it, I might get a mssed call notification or the incoming call comes up.

I'm on an S3, running 4.1.2. I'll do a bit more experimenting tonight and update the thread.

I think there is a thread about not using the genius modem at the top of this sub forum...
Not advocating this you understand.

Please make sure you have notifications turned on, that triggers the phone to wake up.

I believe you still have to use the Genius modem. My understanding is that the modem needs to be registered to the Genius voice infrastructure for GeniusGo to work.

I will confirm though.

There is a features thread, if you want to add it to that we can track how many people want it to see if we have enough demand:)

I am running 4.1.2 actually I think its 4.2 but its rooted and still shows as 4.1.2
I want calls to come in when they hit the phone. Not much use if you have to have the phone unlocked especially when my security settings force it to lock after 1 minute

With android it should unlock the screen and allow you to answer the call, but you must be able to receive notifications for that to work.

In the application manager you can disable notifications for Genius Go (I haven't) but I think that is ALL notifications, not just when the screen is locked. For some reason, thanks to that other thread, I checked my wifi settings and they were set to turn wifi off with the screen. I've set that back to Always like I thought I usally have it but I'm on 3G at the mo anyway, so it's not that.
