freitasm: Get a hotel address in Oregon and use that - no state tax added.

Excellent suggestion. I'll change my address from Dominoes Pizza in Boulder, Colorado.

I'll give Orcon's Global Mode a week or so, but so far it's just been too slow to rely on compared to paid alternatives, and I still can't get a live stream on iPlayer.

This far it hasn't caused any uptick on our international routes but I'll pass on the comment to the team.

Rubu: I have been using Unotelly for ages with no problems, so this morning decided to try or con's Global servers.... no probe on main computer (iMac) BUT can connect to iPlayer on iPad, but just buffers for ages and then says 'Insufficient Bandwidth'. I have UFB and if i switch back to UnoDNS settings all working well....any suggestions please? Orcon's Tech Help told me it won't work with iPad!! I pointed out that on Orcon's site there are instructions for how to use with iPad and iPhone...oh, and he had NEVER heard of Apple TV! HELP!!!!!!yell

Orcon just launched this service and Kudos to them for wanting to shove a big one up sky's bum hole along with slingshot. Surely there will be some teething problems. I think all of us making use of overseas services would like to see sky's butt kicked. Try and be positive for the brand new service and there might be some help to get it running smoothly.

And just a bit of advice, don't expect to get high level assistance from a first level help desk person, you are setting yourself up for disappointment with that. He might sit in India with a book highlighting what questions to ask for all that you know.

Another tip... UFB doesn't automatically make your international bandwidth go faster, so having UFB here might not mean much.

I have full speed UFB, have since installation, so that's not the problem! Any tips for getting to speak to someone NOT in Singapore who understands NZ issues?wink

Anyone having problems getting netflix in HD? I have VDSL so its hardly a bandwidth issue. I've changed the account settings to high quality.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

So everyone with fibre and VDSL etc. If you go to speedtest.net and connect to let's say "San Francisco", what is your download result? Do not connect to an Auckland server.

18.5Mbps down, 8.5Mbps up, Vodafone VDSL to California
Should be good enough to stream in SD at least? wink

I'm getting about 12/9  to California which i thought would be enough but it just refuses to do HD. That's a real bummer. SD looks like crap.

I know it starts out low quality then will auto switch to HD when it has streamed enough to provide uninterrupted viewing by buffering - any other users in the house that could be killing the pipe? Gamers, seeds, uploads etc ?

Ok it just flipped into HD. It took a good 5 minutes into the movie before it did it. I guess I need more patience.

Can that be turned off with netflix? I would rather wait for it to buffer before starting rather than get a blurry mess for 30 seconds - 2 mins of the movie.
