ChrisNZL: Hope there'll be some good combos for having both broadband and mobile with 2degrees.

I'm hoping so too. I'm currently looking at UFB plans as I'll (hopefully) be able in get UFB in a couple of months or so. The snap plans for unlimited UFB just don't look competitive at all.

As someone who appreciates that snap unlimited isn't cheap (keeps the leaches on other ISPs) and is happy to pay a premium for a very well engineered network (low latency, awesome peering, no congestion any time of the day or night), it will be interesting to see how well the two brands mesh given 2degrees place themselves at the cheap no-frills end of the mobile market.
Hopefully they dont make unlimited too cheap and risk Snap being like Orcon as it was a couple of years back when they introduced cheap unlimited plans.

True, but VF/S tend to have much better coverage - though I haven't checked in a while. Ohariu Valley was one example.

*Shrug* Where I live, my wife's Spark mobile from work has such bad coverage she just permanently diverts it to her personal (2degrees) phone. So, like I said, it all depends on where you are. But I'm not going to be drawn into a debate on coverage vs. other companies with a 20-year head-start. :-)

iPad Pro 11" + iPhone 15 Pro Max + 2degrees 4tw!

Oh, I absolutely agree with the sentiment and agree snap is excellent, but I think a difference of $10-15 dollars (over the range of UFB plans) would keep the leechers away.  From what I'm looking at the difference in pricing on for example the 200/20 and 200/200 plans are more like $30-40 and even 100/20 is ~$18 more compared to a bigpipe + 2talk plan.   Since I'm already on 2talk for voip and have heard no complaints about big pipe performance, I'll happily save $18 a month.

timmmay: and they prevent roaming to other carriers within an area they claim to cover but don't really.

I think you'll find that neither Spark nor Vodafone will let you roam onto the other's network in places where their coverage isn't that great, either. The word 'blackspot' wasn't invented for 2degrees. :-) But we are lucky to live somewhere where you can easily switch to another carrier if you live or work in a place where your current carrier has poor coverage. Yay, number portability.

Next up: email address and bank account number portability.

All mobile companies have better or worse coverage in certain places. That doesn't make them better or worse, but better or worse for you.

Good example is 4 spots in the middle of Whangarei.
1 spot I can't get 2D coverage but can get vodafone(specific location it's on the cnr of the Police Station)
Another one I can't get vodafone coverage(from my Tab 2) but everything is fine(this is by the Wharf bridge)
And the last 2 is by the Warehouse and the tip where I can't get anything at all(Dads a Spark phone, I'm 2D)

So yes not every provider can provide the same or better coverage. Everyone has their pitfalls.

I also have rubbish spark coverage in my house, fine outside but drops out randomly when you go inside. Mostly from industrial buildings with large metal surfaces probably not helping the signal get here in the best manner, which i believe is the direction its coming from. It'll probably never get fixed either because this area is marked as high coverage and its only an issue indoors (you know, where you are most of the time).

2Degrees signal on the other hand is much better due to it being co-lo'd on a voda tower, gets 4G a bit more than half the time.
