Yeah I think the $100 credit must be for all affected customers which like you said is appreciated, I would much rather have the phone though. I'm hoping they have had further stock updates from Apple which is why they are now estimating 1-2 weeks?

I am going to forget about it on the assumption that it will be 8 weeks or so.

If it happens to turn up sooner I will enjoy a pleasant surprise.

I've been having a bit of a mare with the pre-order process myself, and I've been going back and forth with 2Degrees support via phone & Twitter.

Ordered on the 10th, no email/comms to confirm anything, finally told there was an error and told to wait 4-6 weeks as I'm *now* in the queue.

Figured there may be a thread here, and sure enough, it looks like sadly this has affected quite a few folks.

As far as I can tell, the shift in delivery dates due to their ordering error would be illegal under the FTA as a form of bait advertising, and would likely result in them being convicted and fined.

It feels like the natural next step is to lodge a complaint with the Commerce Commission.

Here was what I heard from 2Degrees a few days ago—I asked for further clarification after receiving the email, but I haven't heard back. Fairly frustrating.

Good afternoon Charles

Thanks again for your call yesterday,

As per our discussion on the status of your current order.

Currently the order is now in backorder, this time frame could be from up too 4 - 6 weeks for these to be completed.

I hope this information helps.  If you have any other questions, feel free to reply to this email or call us on 0800 022 022.  We're open 7days, 8am - 10pm

I don't really think it's a bait advertising scenario, those of us that were affected by the 'technical error' probably would have received the phone in a reasonable timeframe had 2Degree's not had this issue. So I think their intention was to supply the phones in a timely manner, unfortunately due to this issue we missed out and are now waiting for more stock to arrive. A few of us got an email this morning stating the phone would be delivered in 1-2 weeks so who knows? Could be 1-2 weeks, could be 6.

Their website only ever said "shipping *from* the 16th", not *on* the 16th.

I very much doubt there is a case to pursue here and whilst I am mildly frustrated by the delay, it is not really a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

I completely agree — an iPhone pre-order is a painfully unimportant & asinine issue, but more than anything the way the situation has been handled has led to a great degree of frustration that I would have much preferred not to have experienced.

At this very moment in time, the same phone I've been told I must now wait 4-6 weeks to receive due to their ordering error is being sold under the premise of "Out of stock. You can still order this item (arrival within 3 weeks) or call a 2degrees store".

This is much like the messaging after I'd pre-ordered which stated deliveries would be made in 1-3 weeks.

I very much appreciate 2Degrees fantastic support agents, but I am left with no choice but to explore ways to escalate the issue in the hopes it will be, at the very least, acknowledged and rectified.

I'm aware that other customers (you included) have been offered $100 credit and/or a free month off their phone bill, however, I'm yet to even receive a reply to my email asking for an explanation as to why my pre-order has only now been put into the queue.

No doubt some of the communication since the launch day has not helped. I would contact 2Degree's again and ask why you haven't received the email the rest of us got.

Agree that they are still all over the place with their ETA and messaging and that is poor.

On the website for my product, it has improved as below:

Due to unprecedented demand we are out of stock, Order Now and we’ll put you on the priority queue for the next shipment however this could take up to 6 weeks.

I had the same issue last year - was repeatedly told different estimates ranging from "next week" to "8-10 weeks" whilst waiting for my order - and I gave up around 10 weeks after my order and picked a different colour which they were able to source.

I would rather they said "we actually have no idea when you will get your order - you need to be comfortable with waiting at *least* 6 weeks but it might well be significantly more"  and were unified on that message rather than every agent putting their own take on it!

In a surprising turn of events my phone has just been delivered. I have no idea how we we go from up to 6 weeks a few days ago, 1-2 weeks yesterday and now it turns up out of the blue, I didn't get a shipping notification either. So, for those of you in the same boat as me with the ordering issue there is hope on the horizon! My order was pro max, purple, 256gb. Luckily I had mine delivered to my work address so if you are waiting and had your home address as delivery point it might pay to check for a card to call if your'e not home.

😅

Good grief!

I am pleased for you though.

That said, *very* poor that there was no tracking or shipping notification - if it had gone astray or been mis-delivered you would have been none the wiser...

Yeah a bit unusual but I'm glad it's now here. It was signature required and as there is only 1 other staff member working at my workplace at the moment if it had gone missing I would have had a fairly short list of suspects.

IME since COVID, "signature required" means nothing these days.

I have had no end of "signature required" packages dropped off in my mailbox and on my doorstep.

Enjoy the new phone!

So the mystery package has turned up, despite cancelling my order and receiving 4 different order confirmations... with a business sim card in it.

Not my experience. Took a week between redirection and ATL rules that forbid the packages to be left.

Glad you have received the phone. A little sketched there was no shipment notification. I'm guessing my 128gb Purple might be even more popular than the 256 gb purple so I might be waiting for a while.

Not all plain sailing, just spent 40 minutes on phone to 2D. There is a technical issue with the SIM they sent out with the phone so it doesn't work. Phone is great though, typical Apple product, very well built, colour is almost a little greyer than I was expecting, could be the indoor lighting though.
