reven: the thing the really bugged me with vodafone was i had 120 minutes (or something, iphone 80 plan) but voicemail calls weren't included in those minutes and charged on top. why the heck is that? my bill each month was always a few bucks over $80 because of voicemail.

not sure if this is the same with 2d or telecom, i hope its not.

2D also charges for calls to VM.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

reven:

2d stores had a special where they doubled your credit, so i paid $100 for $200 credit.  after i put that credit on my account i only had 30 days for the texts, which is now gone, so no more free texts.

I saw people doing that and was a bit confused. Instead of buying 1x$100, why not get 5 x $20 and spread the top ups across the months to get the cheaper rates / free texts over the longer time frame?
A little bit more trouble to make sure you don't lose them / let them expire I guess.
Anyway, it worked well for me, I asked for $40 of $20 top ups, but the guy only heard the first bit and gave me 2x $40 top ups. Luckily, the guy behind me wanted $40 top up, so, we swapped.

Anyway, back on topic,

Do you still need a drivers licence to go on the plan, or, is a passport shown in store good enough?

Moved to 2degrees about a year ago. Best decision ever, 9c texting and 44c calls - half the price of other provider, lowered my phone spending heaps. Finally a provider which not only wants to make money (like every other company) but seems to care about its customers and actively trying to lower the cost of mobile and on the go broadband in New Zealand.

 Cheers 2dg Smile

** $29 / month for 60+100 min + 1000 txt + 50 mb **

WOW! that's so much cheaper than what I'm paying now. Am I right that to get the extra 100 min you don't need to commit to a plan, you just have to sign on before Dec 31st?

I want to switch from vodafone to the this pay monthly plan, which store/method to transfer is the most painless? I live near Riccarton Mall in Christchurch so don't mind doing this in store.

Can pay monthly be charged to my credit card?

Correct, I too am moving from Vfone as soon as my partners plan ends on the 29th of Dec,  i think I will sign us up a week or two earlier however to ensure we get the bonus minutes!  Cannot wait for 2degrees to have their network go nationwide for better mobiel broadband deals than one can currently get!

$60 discount for 12 month on $29

however termination fee is # months left x $29
eg. Termination fee at 6 months = $174

However since you say that you can use it to buy anything, that sounds a lot more useful, as I'm pretty unlikely to buy my next mobile (?Desire HD) from one of their retail partners (2degrees / Harvey Norman / DSE / Norman Ross). I probably wont sign up though, as I might decide to switch again at a later date.

PS, 2 degrees should have a share this deal with facebook wall button for new deals. I'm sure that would be just as good for advertising as any other media add they have to pay for.

Well I am now toying with the idea of moving my wife to the $29 monthly plan. She has an iPhone 4 so it would be good to get 50MB of data included and the 100 bonus minutes are a nice touch.

I had purchased a bunch of prepaid coupons from the Wellington store when they were two for one but 2D told me if I apply them all to her prepaid account, when or if I switch her phone to monthly all the money just goes into a credit balance against the monthly charges.

I used mine to buy a zombie. I put him on a leash in the middle of the orchard - no more pest problems. OTOH he's dumb as two bricks so every morning I have to go out and unwind him from the tree he's wrapped himself up in overnight by walking around in circles (he has a gammy leg).
