By the way, this sentence doesn't seem clear to me...

ORCON GENIUS (30GB with standard calling rates) with 200GB Data

Does that mean 230 in total? I think it does?

hangon: The base plan needs another hard look

Telstraclear $75 = phone line + bb 40GB + wireless modem, 12 mon term and first 2 month free, $150 value upfront.

Orcon provides either national calls or 30 GB for the same price, and longer contract term (plus you "renting" the modem, you can't sell it at end of term).

Maybe Orcon just want to move everyone to the 60 GB/$89 plan, which is a bit of hit n miss to start with.

The 200GB/$99 plan is a star though, but for a small household there aren't much we could do to use even 40 GB a month, legitimately.

TBH if you start using streaming services then you will blow that cap in no time

You can stream 1080P films now throu apple tv/insert plenty of other services etc now.. some films can chew around 8GB each

Surely you mean $24.99 to BUY Tintin....which isn't far off the mark for physical media.

It's only $6.99 to WATCH Tintin....which again isn't far off the mark for physical media from the rental stores.

umm thanks for pointing that out.

I'd say its UI not helping much. The only $ figure on the page is $24.99. Even if the figures are not far off buying/renting physical media, I don't see any cost saving for the consumer.

Like e-books (quite often) selling no cheaper than paper copies.

Strange...on my aTV I get a Rent and Buy button in the details of the movie. In iTunes I get the same. You have to actually go into the movie (select it) to see those details though, maybe that's what you haven't done yet?

Ok I got an email saying my new cap is good to go "Start using it!"... but
1) billing cycle starts on 23rd right?
2) my usuage meter is still on the last (or current I guess) billing cycle

Update: Their twitter confirms that is tomorrow/midnight tonight so be warned....

you mean you aren't migrating customers over to the new plans? that's pretty poor.

As both the pricing AND content of the plans are changing, it would not be right for us to automatically switch customers over as it may not suit certain customer's particular situation (in fact it's not actually legal for us to do so anyway).

I just called to upgrade my Orcon@Home to Genius and I was told that I have to pay a $100 connection fee to change plans! Ridiculous! The cheek of it, especially considering the huge amount that I have spent on additional data over the last 12 months (Probably about $400ish extra). I expected more than that from Orcon. They have totally encouraged me to look elsewhere!
