Not where I am living. It stops next door and I am unable to connect up to it. I have terrible speeds on ADSL2 so was looking forward to decent speed, but since job-hunting in another city is underway there is no point going into a 12-month contract when it will lead to an inevitable penalty.

Despite rewiring for ADSL only a couple of years ago, speed here (across several different ISP's) has been appalling. So much so that we end up using an average of 15% of our plans bandwidth. It's tempting to just forget internet altogether and put the money towards mobile use.
My mobile is a LOT faster than my naked broadband.

If your neighbour can get VDSL, then your ADSL should be running quite quickly, I'd be looking for a filtering or line issue.

But a 1Gbps connection is P2P and therefore requires a CIR to be purchased, in this case 1Gbps. This will cost you $1000 per month for this alone. Standard GPON connections don't have a 100Mbps CIR, and a 100Mbps GPON connection with 100Mbps CIR will cost you the same price as a P2P 100Mbps connection with 100Mbps CIR so you can't directly compare buying 10 x 100Mbps GPON 10Mbps CIR connections with a 1Gbps P2P one.

I haven't seen the rate card but how much does dark fibre cost within the same fibre region? If the ISP has a PoP? Might be cheaper as you could put 10gbps on the end even?

Hi everyone

Thanks for all the interest & comments on our exciting new UFB services. We just want to clarify our position on the early termination charges;

The fibre provider (Chorus, Enable, Ultrafast, & Northpower) have Minimum Service Terms on their wholesale services that we purchase from them. These Minimum Service Terms apply to the location (i.e. your house) and not to the service. One of the key reasons is that although you may continue to utilise a UFB service at your new location (if available), there is no guarantee that the person moving into your house will continue to require UFB service, as they may be happy with a copper service. This would have implications for the fibre provider as they wouldn’t have recovered the cost of the initial installation.

Over time, as UFB fibre becomes the default infrastructure (as copper is now), it is likely that adds/moves/changes with UFB services will be treated in much the same way as copper services are today.

I'd be keen to know what the justification for the significant price differences in data costs for business over residential not just in UFB but across all snap internet services?

Yes, you're paying for committed service SLA, account management etc, also generally a higher CIR http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Committed_information_rate

I'm glad to see that Snap's new UFB pricing. I have tested their website with an UFB enabled address to see the plans in detail and I was disappointed to see that on UFB you are forced to get their "Snap plus VOIP" phone line whereas on VDSL2+ they still have a "naked" option for the people like me who prefers to manage their voip line separately.
My current VOIP provider is much cheaper for my use than what is offered on Snap plus VOIP and I will really prefer as a customer to have the choice of using their VOIP service or not, which should then reduce the overall price per month.
I understand that the base price could not always be reduced as it is part of "very complex" calculation to make sure that the ISP will still have some profit on a connection, therefore in this case I will prefer to have the choice between the VOIP service or an ever larger data cap for the same base plan.

Anyway good on you Snap, keep the innovations coming ;)
