Congrats.

Is there a better address checker that gives possible upgrade dates like the old Telecom ADSL2+ one from the past?

Whats the reason the work plan is more expensive then the home plan? Will there be a naked UFB service for users who dont want a phone etc?

Hey there,

Once you choose a plan you will either see a "go" button lit up or a notification that you haven't checked what is available for your address. Once you have done this it will let you continue!

The wholesale cost for UFB Business connections is more expensive than residential, and connection charges also apply.

Each LFC in conjunction with CFH. While these aren't regulated by the Commerce Commision as such (like wholesale copper costs and DSL services) for all intent purposes they are as close to being a regulated product as you could really get.

All LFC"s have public price books and have already publicised their price increases for the next 10 years.

Presumably there are more options, but the site doesn't seem to let you see the prices if your address is outside coverage.

Extra data: $10 for 20Gb, $15 for 60Gb, $25 for 145Gb, $40 for 250Gb, $70 for 550Gb

Doesn't seem unreasonable.

Better than Orcon but still not nearly compelling enough for me.

A 100mbps connection could potentially download around 30,000GB a month, yet the entry level caps on these are a fraction of that, and the addon data packs are still so expensive that to use even 1/10th of what the connection is capable of per month would increase the monthly cost to over $500. Utterly ridiculous.

I really think the government has dropped the ball with UFB, they should have written the specs/contracts in such a way that data caps were a thing of the past, a relic of the dark ages of bad internets in NZ. Instead we continue to see ISP's bringing out offerings with pathetically low data caps to maximise their profits instead of providing NZ with world class access.
