Another problem is that I cannot seem to turn Genius Go off. If I exit the app it states that you wil stop receiving calls and messages. However I still get calls coming from home phone even though app is not running Maybe I have to go to Settings Apps and force Go to stop
Not sure

Sounds like its trying to be too helpful, I will confirm the expected behavior.

Paul

UPDATE

Using the back button should just back grond the app.
Going to settings in the app and choosing exit should exit the app you should not have to force close.
I can confirm that this works as expected for me so if you dont get that behavior its a bug.

openmedia: Well a couple of things

1. Change the amount of permissions the app asks for on Android. it really is ridiculous.

2. Enable support for all Orcon customers. I'm not on a Genius plan but I do have an Orcon phone line and broadband.

I'm not about to take Genius as the modem/firewall aren't good enough and I want a voice line that supports alarms and power outages.

1. What permissions do you feel are not required? Happy to review this.

2. Are you an LLU customer? We currently dont support the resold Telecom POTs connection with this service.

Paul

There are some comments on the google play store about permissions. Why the heck does it need access to the camera, read/send sms and access USB storage.

Yes I'm LLU. as it is the only option where I live. I'd be interested in Genius if you could offer me VDSL and I could use my own firewall as I run OpenWRT.

if you are on LLU, we don't make you use the Genius modem when on a Genius plan. You can keep your POTs.

We only give the Genius modems to EUBA customers to replace the resold Telecom lines.

OK I will do some more testing. I have had several calls come in to phone but user cannot seem to connect with me. From what I can see the call comes in to home phone and rings around 4 times and then the cellphone starts ringing so it may be that call is switching to voicemail around same time as it starts to come through to mobile and the voice mail grabs it
Would that make sense?

When I last renewed my plan that wasn't provided as an option.

So I'd have to pay extra for my POTs line on top of the Genius charge I take it?

It could be but the timer for skip to voice mail is 30 seconds i think. Unless you are using an answer phone at home that is more impatient...

Camera - I agree right now its not really required.
SMS - We watch for the incoming sms with the auth token to auto populate it.
USB Storage - I suspect that is so we can write to the SD card if you have one. Ill ask.

Batwing: Getting invalid username and password, its the same credentials I log in to the website with though.

Are you still getting that?
Have you confirmed that the same user details are used to access myorcon?

Sorry have to ask.

Paul

Still getting the same thing, made sure I can still log in to myorcon fine.

Ah you are on a commercial account, since you purchase Genius via your employer.

I will see if there is anything we can do to resolve that.

I've been periodically attempting to log in. As of a few minutes ago I can log in to the app. This coincides with myorcon now displaying the home interface, whereas yesterday it showed the commercial interface.

Flip-flopping between home and commercial - on a home plan that is subsidised by employer's commercial account.

Let's see if it breaks with the next billing cycle!

Really happy with this. Works pretty well for me, took a home call while I was out on 3g today.

I like that data use only shows mobile data. This is important to me.

One problem, I cant answer calls using my bluetooth handsfree car kit. Im using an iPhone 4 iOS 6.1.3

Logged on to myorcon to check out the call logs there, it's showing the commerical page again. Changing back and forth rapidly it seems.

Confirmed calling using the app is still working, so Orcon switching me between home and commercial accounts doesn't break the app :)

That sounds like a really interesting fault.
We will pass it to our developers to sort out... Should not be swapping like that.
