You are getting more than you pay for, the CIR is 2.5Mbps, so any speed over that is a bonus :)

ubergeeknz: The vast majority of latency/slowdown issues during peak times should be resolved after a change made early this morning.

To kiwikiwi (the OP) : we are also aware of some backhaul congestion affecting Whangarei UFB specifically.  There is work underway to increase capacity but I don't have a confirmed date as yet.  I'll be getting someone from customer services to touch base with you directly.

Thanks again everyone for your patience.  We'll certainly be monitoring the situation closely but do let us know if you're still seeing issues.

actually can you get cs to email me directly rather then calling me, i'll be out most of the affo with no reception either on the cell

email should be the one on the account

thanks

While the ping has settled down, day or night I can't pass 23Mb down (was 27-28) on my UFB. Was fine before this issue started happening...

I think Orcon is aware of the speed issue, best to just post your location so they can have a look into the affected areas.

Not really true.  CIR is all that is 'Guaranteed"  . We pay for the potential rate -30/10 is $95 unlimited - 100/20 is $110

I know about "up to 100" in the terms and conditions, I just wanted to post the results of my newly installed connection since yesterday, I was hoping it would be better but it's still an improvement over the VDSL I had, which got me 20/8

If it can stay at this I'll call it solved. Of course no one is gonna be awake at 5AM but I'm hoping.

Should we be getting our usual speeds yet?

Ping is fine but my 30/10 UFB is stuck at 19-23Mb (was always 27-28). Can't pass 2.2MB downloading on any device (wired/wireless).

Restarted ONT/modem, makes no difference.

I have found Orcon speeds to be particularly terrible in the last two days. Youtube is barely usable. I've tried resets (both soft and hard) of my router but it doesn't really change much.

Users on Twitter seem to be saying the same thing...

Connection painfully slow here for last two days too, speedtests reach around about 5mbit/s for download. Talked to orcon support which had me reset the modem to factory but did not improve the speed. It has now been referred onto Chorus to look at it. Hopefully this gets resolved faster than the 10 day maximum they allow for.
