Well I won't be getting up there any time today, so that's my chance at a green pin done and dusted.

I'm finding that I'm generally getting very small data this year compared to last year. I have yet to see any golden pins anywhere in Auckland.

Here is a frequency distribution out of the 50 spots I've done so far:-

  • 20MB: xxxxxxxxxx (10)
  • 30MB: xxxxxxx (7)
  • 50MB: xxxxxxxxxxxxx (13)
  • 75MB: xxxxx (5)
  • 100MB: xxxxxx (6)
  • 150MB: xxx (3)
  • 200MB: xxx (3)
  • 300MB: xx (2)
  • 500MB: x (1)

4,185MB divided by 50 spots yields an average of 83.7MB per spot.

yes, I've seen very little from a lot of data spots too...but to keep it in perspective (although last year set a high expectation) - it's free, so I no complain.

It might be free; but for me it's getting so little back this time around I can't even be bothered to open the app to check! :( :P

But yeah I get the point that it is free :) so....

I'm the same, not worth the effort, it takes forever to load and pins don't spin. waste of time IMO

If you've got an android, check the app has access to your location settings and they're on high accuracy. Your GPS settings maybe lagging behind on the app.

Close the app and restart the phone so it can adjust and you should be good as gold.

If you're still having issues check you have the latest release of the app and make sure your phone's software is up to date.

Happy hunting!

After the first 3 or 4 I did not bother with the clues as they were dropping the pin at 7am and then posting the clue at 8am.

Used 2 iPads, with first iPad before 7am zoomed Data Hunt map down to cover all of NZ with 5 screenshots, after 7am with 2nd iPad zoomed to the same level as the screenshots and compared the numbers, this made it easy see where the extra pin was, no clues required.
