@SaskiaDonnell WOW not even a single comment very disappointing!

I suggest 2degrees customers vote by changing mobile provider here is all the information on the OneNZ site

https://one.nz/apple/watch/

Hey there, sorry for the delay in response and that I am unable to provide you with a more definitive update yet. We are working hard on our offering for all our customers and will have an update early in the new year.

Very disappointing. Also which “new year” are we talking about? The rate 2d is going it could be 2027 you’re talking about.

This is now frankly ridiculous. You may as well have said "soon" again. I know it isn't specifically on you, but this promise has already been broken last year.

It really sounds like "Oh crap, One NZ have got it now. We should do something about this..."

cws82us: About time. vodafone is lagging behind

No they're not.

Seems like I was well justified in my decision to move on.

The service and offerings since the Vocus takeover don't make me feel like I am missing anything by going to One NZ. The glacial pace of updates and innovation are most unlike the 2Degrees I was once so enamoured with.

All those christmas gift apple watches that will go unconnected or moved to another network. Seems less than ideal from a customer retention perspective to be delaying this any more.

Damn - really disappointed. I like the plan I have currently, it’s perfect ($65/mo for 25GB then endless, minus a 20% retention discount which makes it $52/mo). I got moved to it a few months ago automatically and I wasn’t even mad about it because it’s a steal, but not available on the website as far as I can see.
But I’m willing to give up my perfect plan and pay more for the OneNZ plan that’ll give me watch support.

Features like this are really non-negotiable now.
Add on top of that the garbage eSIM implementation (no self service transfer at all on 2D) and declining customer service, 2D just seems to be stuck doing the minimum to keep things going. A huge shame.

Convenient timing too with the increase in broadband pricing, my contract can be cancelled within the next few weeks without fees so I’ll be taking that to OneNZ most likely.

tripp: Already picked up a one.nz sim card and have it in the phone with the option now to setup my Apple Watch with mobile data.

Does the watch get added as an additional "user" and use one of the 3 share slots, or is it just a duplicate of your phone plan and shares the data/calls in your monthly allowance?

yesterday I signed up online and I’m amazed at how easy it was. eSIM arrived within minutes and worked immediately with zero effort.

The only downside was since I had a OneNZ online account already I needed to add my new connection to that which required the account number. None of the emails I received had that so I had to do a chat. But to their credit they had me connected to someone within a minute.

Once I had my OneNZ online account sorted I could activate one number in the watch app without any hassle. Took just a couple of mins.

It’s a duplicate of your own number, and in the app OneNumber just shows as an add on. App says it shares data, call and text allocations of your main plan.

Hmm - looks like 2D are on the cusp of losing another two customers over this then; makes sense for my wife and I to move to One Plan plus her as an additional and then get our watches online finally.

Sod it - order placed for porting!

Not like I have anything to lose - current plan is open term as will be the One NZ one and I don't owe anything on hardware. Will give them a whirl and if it is awful I can always move back...

Will be porting my wife's line under mine as well, once she is back from her current trip.

SaskiaDonnell:

FWIW, if you ever get to give your overlords feedback, their inability to even communicate properly about the timeline and plans for wearables over the last year (let alone actually implement!) combined with the ludicrous need to go in store for eSIM changes is the only reason we have just dropped 2D for One after 12 years or so.

So porting went without a hitch on the date that it was supposed to, I got my QR eSIM the day before and activating it was a cinch.

The only thing I didn't have was my new account number for some reason, but I phoned the One.nz service team (and actually got a real person pretty much immediately, unlike the last n times I have called 2D...) and they gave me this so I could sort out the App on my phone.

Setting up the mobile on the watch was also a cinch - the option to add mobile data appeared as soon as I activated my new eSIM and it took a few seconds to then activate on the Ultra.

So far so good One.

Was chatting with my GP this week and Apple Watch 9 came up. He switched to Spark so he could use an LTE enabled watch, but it's never worked and neither Spark nor Apple will take ownership of the issue.

If you can't bother to read a thread, perhaps skip trying to police it. *yawn*
