Benoire:

God I'm glad I currently have v6 disabled as I'm on static v4 and v6; most likely would be causing the same headaches!  I'm tempted to turn v6 back on but I'm in teams meetings all afternoon and it probably wouldn't be good!

I was migrated a week or two back... I have a static IPv4 too. Mine went way more smoothly than some reports here. I did have to modify some Mikrotik configuration to get connected again (expected). My static IPv4 came across as did the same IPv6 prefix.

So its not bad for everyone.

@Sounddude was helping me out last week and gave me a new static IP but I was still having the same issues. As soon as I switched off IPv6 this morning, that seems to have solved the issues as far as I can tell so far, as long as I keep it disabled.

I haven't tried turning off IPv6 yet, most stuff seems to be working since @sounddude got involved, but Neon still refusing to work on TV.... yet when I was on the temp CGNAT connection, it worked.

Will try without IPV6 and report back...

Please don't recommend disabling IPv6 as a solution on here for any problem. IPv6 is seen as ISP's as a production service and as important as IPv4 so if there is an actual issue please deal with your provider and don't sweep IPv6 under the rug.

I don't care what some individuals will say on here about IPv6 but to people like myself this is important and more and more devices just simply work better on it. If you disagree here then you clearly don't understand IPv6.

Hi

I am a 2degrres customer on fixed ip address and was using PPPoE with a xxx@snap.net.nz for my login ID.

My port forwarding no longer works, I have done some trouble shooting and I believe it's a 2degrees issue.

eg. I can't access plex outside my LAN and using an online port checker the port is closed.

I use a UniFi USG3 connected to the ONT and my UniFi switch

I tried changing IPv4 connection from PPPoE over to DHCPv4 but it still hasn't solved my issue.

BTW - I have IPv6 disabled as I have never set it up or needed it.

I have port filtering disabled on the my2degrees broadband dashboard webpage.

Would this be a symptom of the change over?  Is there any trouble shooting I can do.  I have a really busy job (oncology during the day) and I spent half an hour on hold to try and speak to someone, but didn't get through and I just don't have this much free time to wait on hold waiting for a support person (That might not even understand my issue).

**** EDIT: It seems that changing over from PPPoE to DHCPv4 has fixed the port forwarding issue, it might of just been some lag before the change happened ****

Thanks

@kiwijunglist if you’ve been migrated I’m pretty sure there is a port filtering feature that is enabled by default on all connections. You can turn this off in the 2degrees broadband portal.

Also ensure your WAN IP of your router and your actual IP is the same.

Hmmm... My problem actually does seem to be resolved from moving from PPPoE to DHCPv4.

You should also go through and set up IPv6. It is super simple to do on the USG too.

On your WAN interface activate it:

Then on your LAN simply activate prefix delegation - prefix ID unique to each VLAN:

There is one particular member on here who is ex-Spark who keeps banging on that IPv6 is not needed. Don't let him win, fight the NAT and enable it :)

Thanks Michaelmurfy .... I just independently set that up!  But I wish I had waited for your post because those are the exact settings I used (... but it took me quite a while to google them).

I now have IPv6 address.  I don't actually no why I would need it, but I have it.

That's the spirit. For most you don't need it but why not if it is provided :)

IPv6. Twice the complexity for none of the benefits.

Oh how I love trolling @michaelmurfy 🫶

You should at least get an IPv6 badge and a shiny IPv6 logo on geekzone!

I guess that is worth 15 minutes of messing around in unifi controller :-)
