Extending current deals for longer period would probably not be in 2degrees interests, as they are unlikely to make more money.

It's funny how users on this forum seem to demand an awful lot of 2Degrees and almost expect it to happen, you just don't see it on VF or Telecom forums.

If you look at where we are now compared to the days before 2D were around, things have moved on and improved markedly with the advent of a credible 3rd party in the market.

Definitely agree with your observation.

I personally don't "expect" anything to happen just trying to have realistic hopeful wishes :) However much more likely to happen with 2 degrees than VF / XT.

EDIT: I am so much happier with 2degrees and the support that goes on in this forum from them is amazing. They definitely have one of the best web custom service presence of any NZ company. I also seem to save a lot or get a lot more value than I did with you choose and vodafone (I was a VF on account customer from 1998 -> end of 2010)

Could this be that 2 Degrees are an approachable do listen and self promoted themselves as giving the little man a voice?

I don't understand all this talk of lack of profitability by increasing data expiry dates or 250~500mb data packs? I bought a 1gb pack last week and i will continue to use my phone in a normal matter to understand what amount of data i will use on a typical month, i strongly suspect i will be lucky to use 400~500mb by its expiry. I can assure you I will not be making a habit of buying 1gb packs on an ongoing basis as in my mind it is uneconomic. Give me a data pack that is usable and i will buy said pack month in month out. Surely i am not the only one of this mindset, and collectively it would have to equate to additional revenue?

Surely there should be a expectation that if you are going to sell smartphones you have some form of suitable/smartphone plan?

I would love to have between 200-400mb/month all the data packs are too heavy for me too. I just wonder if they can't make money from smaller packs or longer expirations, i imagine people switch + buy for the large amounts of data (which when they actually go to use they find too large). My plan comes with 50mb, but that is not enough for me.

I tried 2degress and didn't have a good coverage where I live here in Miramar. Missed dozens of calls with the phone on my side.
Besides, the internet package isn't enough and it's expensive.
And the most annoying thing are the texts they keep sending. All the time, for every reason. And if you don't pay their bill one day, the next day the texts start and they call you many times to remind you to pay the bill.

I then moved back to my old provider and I'm happy where I am now.

I agree - being bombarded by text messages about all sorts of trivial things is extremely annoying and intrusive. However I don't have a problem with them doing it to users whose bills are overdue as any business would want to aggressively pursue problem debtors.

We will shortly be taking steps to greatly reduce the number of texts sent out. It's a bit of a balancing act - on the one hand you have people who complain bitterly if not warned about x-y-z and on the other hand you have people who complain bitterly that they know what they're doing so please just leave them alone. We can see both points of view, we just need to try to get the balance right.

On the other note; i find 2degrees 3g faster than my orcon Dsl! I even find that I end up with more minutes than texts every month (thanks to viber as well) and the great plan I'm on.

I resent that suggestion. When I'm extremely busy the disruption of the alert and having to open and delete the thing is extremely annoying even if it only sidetracks me for a few seconds. The number of friends I have is completely irrelevant and I have no idea why you would bring that into it.

On the other hand I appreciate Salty's point, and some customisation options would be the ideal solution.

It'd probably be useful if you could set your notification preferences via the web or through replying to the texts with a keyword to stop that type of notification.

Don't take things so personally. A Study showed that the majority of 2degrees customers are nigel-nomates. This is due to the fact that they are not worried about missing out on the on-net deals; bestmate, 2000 txt e.t.c. But that study is getting old so I am probably wrong. And was conducted by telecom.
