So i recently cancelled my orcon connection (which worked great, good price/speed), it seems as part of the disconnection process they send out a courier bag with a return courier bag in it so that i can send back the loan equipment in it, considering i dont have any loan stuff it was kinda pointless ....

well let me go back a few days, i missed the courier as i had this card to call thing wedged in my door at home, given that i wasnt expecting anything, I was a little excited about what it could be !!!
Alas it was just a courier bag with a return courier bag enclosed from orcon.

I thought well i dont have any equipment to return, i own and use all my own dsl gear, but being wise i thought "well ill ring and check".

After a chat with the help desk, where i explained that i had nothing to return, and that maybe i should just toss the bag, i was warned that i must return the empty generic prepaid labelled bag via courier or i might get billed for it, as you can understand I thought sending back an empty courier bag (with nothing in it) seems pointless!!!!!!! i tired at length to explain the stupidity of this, but Orcons help desk assured me they would need that bag back (to be clear there was no confusion they understood it was empty and it cant be used again)!!

needless to say, im going to do nothing at all to send you your bag back, however you are more than welcome to come get it, why the hell you want your empty courier bag back that you cant use again is beyond me!!

Perhaps if a system sounds stupid, um IT IS !!

I would just do what they say. It is costing them not you to send it back, so if they can afford that sort of waste, then they must be doing well.

Should ask them to send you another bag so you can send the bag back.

I am guessing they aren't wanting the bag back to use, they are wanting it returned so the tracking can go through their systems, as showing it was returned.

Send them a bill for wasting your time back in the bag.
See what they do.
Don't expect them to pay it though.

i like that one so much im going to reply to that helpdesk email asking for a bag to send the bag back in and see what they say ...

though we do have some very random stuff at work, i might send them a selection of goodies they never knew they wanted, or perhaps i should send them a courier bag addressed to me,  asking for the loan equiptment i never lent orcon and then demand they send my empty bag back......

Hi guys,

If we send you a return bag and you've never had any rental equipment from us before please don't send us an empty return bag - simply throw it out. I've no idea why you were advised to send us the empty bag back, this definitely isn't required and I'll make sure the Helpdesk are aware of that.

We would prefer if you avoided sending any kind of excrement - the return bags actually go to our supplier, but I'm sure they wouldn't appreciate it. Embarassed

fill the bag with countdown leaflets, foodtown leaflets, jbhifi leaflets, warehouse brochures etc etc that get delivered to your house on a daily basis. that way you can help the guys who open the bags out by advising them of the latest great deals

Random advertisements and your business cards etc. The whole bag thing is kinda funny actually. Too bad you can't use the postage "Credit" towards sending something somewhere else (ie for Trademe usage) then it might at least be helpful.

I saw some pretty random stuff come back via returns over the years, the most common (outside of the actual modem) were just the empty boxes and packaging but no modem (gee you really fooled me you shifty customer).

Most random thing I saw come back was the box ... but in place of the modem was a video tape ... never did watch it.
