So I am currently on the $39 pay per month plan and was thinking about getting a newer smart phone and was wondering is there any way that I can buy the phone cheaper on plan but use my current plan and just change it to the 24 month contract?

Yes, call customer care and discuss it. Alternatively go to a 2degrees shop. You can 're-sign' onto a term and get the term benefits.

Yep, if you convert from a month-to-month to a 24 month term, then you're entitled to get the same free phone benefits as someone signing up new.

What if there are 8 months left on the existing 24 month plan? Can I 're-sign' now too for another 24 months and get a new smartphone with discounted prices? Or do I have to wait out the 8 months?

There are some ETCs depending on how long it is, but I don't recall off the top of my head at what point they are no longer required. You'd have to ask a shop or the call centre.

Thanks. I thought it might have to be a question for in store or call centre, but had the hope an answer would come easier here. All good, will have to use my voice rather than my fingers to find out.

You can re-sign when you have three or fewer months remaining on your 24 month term, or... two or fewer months remaining on a 12 month term.

Thank you! That saved me having to call up the call centre. I will wait out 5 more months then.

Was in your situation last year, ended up waiting until contract came up and renewing for 12 months - which according to the website should entitle me to $100.

Spoke nicely to the Business Account Manager and got $5 off the bill for the duration plus a $200 handset voucher for each plan I renewed.
