Hi guys me again Embarassed
Sorry to bother with a few problems and stuff but ive been getting relatively slow internet at night... starts somewhat around 5-6~ and can last anywhere from about 4-6 hours @@
I know its probably due to high internet traffic at night time and its understandable
but heres a few speedtest results that i just did

Ive contacted the landlord to check the router for regarding my previous problem about gaming latency... since the WAG160N isn't performing so well.  But with regards to speed I think mine is a tad bit low...

If it's only at night then it's congestion

Is it really only in the evenings?

Also, what speeds do you normally get?

500kbps down and 300kbps up with a latency of 165ms seems like a bit more than standard network congestion, unless you are on a cocklin exchange????

yea i can live with congestion at night, i mean i understand that it's standard to occur sometimes
but i dont think congestion would give me 150+ms to NZ servers and <2Mbps
Normally at 16Mbps and 36ms... similar Up sleeds though
Lately its been mainly the evenings... although sometimes can occur in the afternoon after 2pm but that would be just on and off

I'm saying your speed results don't indicate standard network congestion.

If you normally get 16mbps down, then you aren't on a cocklin exchange so we can rule that one out.

I think it would either be:

1 - you or someone else on your internal network are maxing out your bandwidth...... most likely uploading to cause those results.

or

2 - your ISP has major congestion problems.

It's not going to be internal wiring or anything as your speeds are usually fine off peak.

Nope. Well not on the Orcon network anyway.

We have done some huge changes in the last couple of months to remove all bottlenecks.

Kinda up and down but still overall on the slow end

Me and my mate here are definitely not uploading/downloading anything at the moment.  Not sure about others since they are currently out studying

Are their computers left on? Could be running a backup service for example...

How many people use your connection?

Just as a comment on people posting speedtest - when you click "Share" there's an option to copy the BBCode that will automatically insert images in forum posts. Use that, because I can't imagine many people bother doing a copy and paste of each of the URLs above just to check someone else's results.

In other words, make it easier for people to help you. Post the images, not the links.
