Recently it seems that soon after I buy another chunk of Broadband Zone Data, 2degrees gives me 1 GB of Postpay Plan Data. By the time I've consumed the purchased gigabytes, the free 1 GB has expired and I have to purchase some more.

I enquired about this and 2degrees responded with their data usage policy, which I have reproduced here for anyone who may be curious.

According to our data usage policy, the following is the order in which the various data will be used from your services.

1) Mobile Broadband Zone Data Pack (Value Pack)

2) National Data Pack (Value Pack)

3) Plan Data - Allocated with the plan

4) Any Bonus Data - Allocated with the plan

5) Shared Data - if sharing data from other user

6) Standard Data Rates apply hereafter.

The reason why your data is being used from the Broadband Zone Data as it the MBB ZONE DATA PACK (VALUE PACK) which is the first to be used according to the hierarchy.

I guess like many things in life, timing is everything:-)

Cheers
Scott

It's interesting that shared data is almost last on the list. A lot of people may not realise that you need to use up any data allowance before sharing will kick in.

Sheesh, for a company that was going to simplify the market they sure are convoluted

Rollover minutes are in a similar situation, you can not use your bonus minutes without consuming your rollover minutes first = no rollover or no bonus minutes, you choose :P

This is for the shared user only. It's that way to make sure that if you bought any packs on the shared device, then you don't lose them unused. So, it's actually for your benefit, not just because we like making complicated things. :-)
