My partner changed from 2 degrees pay now to prepaid she was told that $50 odd was owing. As all previous payments had been automatic she thought that the last payment would also be automatically payed.
It was not and she did not check, and the account became overdue-totally her fault no issue here.

But what I find annoying is she heard nothing until a letter came from a collection agency demanding payment(she paid as soon as she got it).

Hey 2degrees any chance of a call or text to remind people about missed payments before calling in the dogs!?

Thanks Andrew

This has been mentioned before: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=85&topicid=91047

Really surprised 2degrees haven't fixed this process by now, not a good sign.

I could see this happening if you changed from 2deg to another provider (them not having a number to call anymore) but going 2deg to 2deg prepaid I would imagine should be no problem to send an SMS or leave a message.

If the 2degrees CSR had said that all automatic payments will be cancelled and the last payment would have to be paid manually. Would you like to pay now with a credit card now?
She would have paid then and there. No problem!

Hi Andrew

This is because when you move from Pay monthly to Prepay direct debit authority is suspended and will not not for paying your final bill.  You will need to make payment via internet banking or at NZ Post.

We appreciate this isn't perfect and are working on fixing this soon, apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Please PM the number, acct #, email address plus DOB & address for authentication and I'll have a look.

Cheers

I had this exact same problem recently.  Changed from pay monthly back to pre-pay, had direct debit setup, got my final bill via email which specifically stated I didn't need to do anything because a direct debit was setup and a couple of mths later got a nasty saying I was overdue.

Rang two degrees and asked what it was all about, they resent the PDF bill which on page one says "you don't need to do anything as you have a direct debit setup"....grr,  this is a wee bit amateurish 2degrees!!

Glad I read this thread, as I'm just changing from the $29 plan to data pre-pay (I end out using more data than calls, and am not quite prepared to go to the $39 plan just yet).

Will definitely give 2D a call a few days after my monthly direct debit expires and make sure no Baycorp letter is in process!

This is one that 2degrees should really fix. With all the problems with the economy, I'd say there would be a fair few people who get forced back to their true home country. In those cases tracking them down is rather costly, meaning either way 2degrees would lose out rather heavily.

I'm not talking about people who do a runner, just those who can't afford to (or can't legally) stay in NZ any more.

I ran a group called Unpaid Mushrooms (in Australia) after our employer collapsed, and a fair few people wound up back in their country of origin, and I've heard of one other case where someone was deported because their employer went broke, invalidating their work visa.
