Hi Guys,
I'm new to Genius actually the phone is still getting moved over as we speak.  What I would like to know is what firmware is available over the factory GeniusLite1100 that from what read all the routers come out with from Orcon.

I have heard of I think Version 1201, and found a page from Orcon that has the 1304 and 1400 bin files.  Plus are their release notes with these releases that list the benefits / bug fixes etc.

If there is a page great if not could Orcon create one.

I just want to get the router sorted out while its new to me and before I have done too much configuration.  I guess the update will nuke any settings, does the backup restore everything is there anything I should be aware of?.

Cheers
and thanks in advance Smile

Hi there, I don't know about the Genius Lite, because I have the full version of Genius.  From my 'Status' page it shows the following:

Runtime Code Version: Genius1400  Boot Code Version: 1.0.37-106.17  Build Time: 2012.05.09-19:38:24

I am not sure I would mess around with the firmware updates from Orcon until you know for sure which ones are what.  All I know is that when they rolled out the firmware upgrade recently for the full Genius we were told in email that it was in readiness for UFB, and that we should not have our cables plugged in to one of the ports... port 4 I think it was from memory... because it was being reserved for fibre.

Aren't these a fully managed device like the standard Genius? In which case Orcon manage the firmware.

Thanks guys, I would have assumed the firmware gets pushed down and from conversations I have read people are not happy about this.  Well my GeniusLite unit is on 1100 and Orcon link I found shows two directories Lite and Full the 1400 is under the GeniusLite directory.

So other than UFB support what benefit does the 1400 release give me, hence my question on release notes they are a great concept.

Cheers

I have it on excellent authority that Orcon are rolling out the 1201 firmware to all 1100 modems in the next few weeks, most of them will be upgraded this week.

That is the version of the firmware I had before the last upgrade last month.

Thanks UbergeekNZ,
I have also found in topic http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=82&topicid=102521&page_no=3 talk of a 1202 version
Runtime Code Version: GeniusLite1202
Boot Code Version: 1.0.37-106.17
Build Time: 2012.02.11-18:35:19

So from what I have worked out we have the following:

GeniusLite1100 - What the router is release with from Orcon.
GeniusLite1201 -
GeniusLite1202 -
GeniusLite1304 -
GeniusLite1400 - UFB support but you loose ethernet port 4.

I would love to know what is the best release so far, and what each release resolves / fixes.

Cheers

Maybe post to the forum at http://games.orcon.net.nz/ - you might get some answers there too.

1201 seems the most stable and fixes call waiting. Hence why it is being rolled out :-)

Thanks Guys,
I have had a look at the game forum I may post there also; So 1201 seems the most stable I'mmm OK, I had a look on the Australia IINET site and can see the Aussies now have 1500 out for Bob2 lite.

If any Orcon techs are reading posts on this forum, can you let me know what the best firmware to use on the GeniusLite routers.

Cheers and thanks in advance.

Why are Orcon rolling out 1201 when that is such an old version?  Are you sure you've not got your wires crossed?  My version is 1400.  It would seem odd that Orcon would be rolling out a very old update.

Oh, and don't be tempted to download the BOB-Lite files, that would only be tempting fate!

Because there are some known issues with 1400, so we don't want to roll it out to everyone until they are fixed.

That's a bit off, isn't it?  Some people getting an update when there are still known issues... actually, not sure there has been a version that HASN'T had an issue for me, to be honest!  At the moment I am still having voicemail to email issues... when you play them all there is is a loud white noise... and this has been through EACH version that I've had!

The issue wasn't picked up, unfortunately, until after we'd rolled some out.  They are minor enough not to warrant any downgrades but there was no point rolling out any more.

Voicemail has nothing to do with the modem at all.

I know now that the voicemail to email not playing is down to a bug in the voice platform, but what does that mean exactly?  And more to the point if it was not modem related, why was I told the update I receoved in March might fix it (which it didn't)?  I just wish it would get fixed.  Also, if that's the case that the version I have now, 1400, is not the best one to be using, is it worthwhile downgrading?
