Am trying to get in on the deal for the Samsung Galaxy S3's for free on the $89 plan before it ends, but the 2degrees website was giving me a Technical Error when I click the Buy Now button. Arhhhhh. Am hour later and a number of attempts it finally lets me proceed to check out but now it complains about me already being on a Pay Monthly plan!! What do I do to get this deal? (I'm on a Pay Monthly no contact plan currently)

Also - a question for those in the know: I see the order process asks if I already have a 2degrees SIM - but doesn't the S3 need a MicroSIM?? Will this be provided with the phone?

I can't help with most of your questions. The S3 does indeed take a micro SIM. 2degrees sell a blank one for the purpose of transferring for $5.00.

I ordered an S3 from the website, and took the free SIM offered with it - that at least is a full-size one that you can't use in the phone. It never asked about a micro-SIM. I was going to get a Snapper SIM anyway, so I wasn't overly fussed, but you do have to go into the shop to get it sorted out.

There is no 2degrees store in the town I live in so going into a 2degrees store is not an option for me... Although I may be in Christchurch on Tuesday...

OK, rang the 0800 number and spoke to 2degrees customer services and they said because I was already on Pay Monthly that I had to go into a store selling 2degrees phone and re-sign on Pay Monthly to get this deal. Is this really the case - I need to re-sign on to Pay Monthly and go through the checks again!??

If this is correct - in future could this please be done via the website. Please.

OK, visited Warehouse Stationary this afternoon and after having to explain the deal to them and them having to check up on it (and then realising there was a ticket for it on the product - although the guy I was dealing with did have the flu...) I did manage to get my S3. But they had to ring 2degrees first to ask if it was possible as they were under the impression it was for new customers only!

For those interested, the store first has to "Resign" you from your currently plan - and as part of that process they enter what plan you are going to and require you to enter your 2degrees PIN number IN PLAIN TEXT!!! (I was shocked when I saw this - come on 2degrees - that is not acceptable in anyones book!)

WARNING - The plan change does not take place immediately, it takes place on your next billing date. (could be dangerous if you plan on using a whole lot of data as soon as you get your phone).

It is a shame that:
a). existing Pay Monthly customers cannot use the easy online order process, and
b). that the process that existing customers do need to use is not documented somewhere (a link to something on the website from the Galaxy offer webpage would have been brilliant - it would have saved me hours and hours of time trying to do it online, and would have spurred me to go into a store before the original offer ended and hence I wouldn't have missed out on the free 7.2 usb modem.)

2degrees - please take a note of the above and look on it as constructive criticism. Thanks.

UPDATE - despite the website telling me that the plan change would happen on my next billing date, I have just received a text and email telling me the plan is all go now! That's better.

ETA that I am off to Christchurch tomorrow to pick up a couple of blank microSIM's since since neither Warehouse Stationary OR Dick Smiths locally have any in stock and neither sounded like it was a priority to get any in a timely fashion! 2degrees - your supply chain is letting you down.

Just wanted to clear some things up, I'm sorry customer care didn't when you called but if you can still remember the name of the agent I'll make sure they are notified.

a). Existing customers can resign. You do it from "Your 2degrees" in the change plan section. If you don't have a term or your term is nearing the end you get an option to sign up to a term which will take you to the shop to chose the phone you want.
b). Thanks for the feedback, I'll see what can be done about this.

Also, when you order from the online shop, I'm pretty sure that you get a hybrid SIM which can be used as a normal or micro SIM. I'll double check this and confirm.

Thanks for that. POB PM'ed me last night with a step by step on it also.

It would be useful for a link to the step-by-step (or at least some information on how you go about it) on the likes of the Galaxy S3 promo page AND probably also the cart page where you're trying to change from Pre-Paid to the plan. I spend some time the other night searching on the website for information on how to convert from an open Pay Monthly to a term plan and came up empty handed.
