Ever since i moved from Vodafone to 2degrees this Data Roaming message keeps coming up. No matter what settings i change it always comes up. This is the sole reason why i will move to Telecom in the next few days.
Would anyone know how to get rid of it?

I had the same problem when I first joined 2Degrees ages ago. It turned out to be a setting in the LG phone I used at the time (P500). Can't remember where it was in settings, but it was something I'd toggled on somewhere in network settings. Turned it off and no more messages from then on.

IMHO, Stay with 2Degrees, it's well worth it.

I've played with all the roaming settings, nothing.
I've played with the 2g/3g settings, nothing.

I presume you are referring to the "you have lost data while roaming" message.
Its because you have Settings -> Wireless & Network -> Mobile Networks -> Data Roaming [ ]

Set to ticked/enabled

Of course you will then be using data from your national data pack.

It is purely to advise you that you're moving out of a 2d coverage area and roaming on the VF network.

If this didn't occur there would be large numbers of posts from people on here complaining that they're using roaming data and annoyed they aren't being told about this!

I've stuck it on all the settings and still get the message.
Disabled it just now and it popped up twice.

If thats the case, Telecom on monday. Least i know i'll get decent coverage and not have to buy pack after pack just to be online.

As mentioned in your other post, Blenheim isn't a mobile broadband zone - hence you'd probably be better off with either Vodafone or Telecom as you can't take advantage of the cheaper mobile broadband rates (and instead pay National 3G data rates of 50MB for $6, 100MB for $10 or 50c per MB).

I'm on the $19 data plan which gives me a healthy 300mb a month.
I also seem to get 1gb of BBZone MB each weekend. Dont know why.

So i basically get 4.3gb of data a month for $19. Telecom won't give me that.

Predicament.

To me it seems like quite the hack job to release a network that most people can't even utilize properly.

Note that unless you have a quad/pentaband phone that does 850mhz 3G, you'll have to buy a new phone to switch to XT!

It could be your handset, or your specific location...

"Most people" have no problems, otherwise we would hear a lot more screaming about this. If this is something that really causes problems, get a national network. Go with Telecom if you can't go with 2degrees.

You chose a network that doesn't have it's own infrastructure in your town, so your phone will roam on Vodafone to deliver nationwide coverage.

Depending on your data requirements you may probably find that Vodafone or Telecom are cheaper.

Thanks for the replies everyone.
May have to say goodbye to my 4.3gb of data for $19 and move to a new network.

I have googled the problem and a lot of people have the issue all over the world but couldn't seem to find a fix.

I also posted the problem in the S3 forum as a lot of guys have the S3 on 2 degrees as well but they ignored the question.
