Hi guys,

Just would like to know if any of you are getting speed issues around this time at night on VDSL or ADSL2+

Small bits of traffic and my latency is all over the place.

yeah, but getting weird surges up to 20mbit or so on occasion. upload is fine. My latency is odd... earlier today my ping time to trademe was ~25ms, now it's DOWN to 7!!

EDIT:  HUH!  Speedtest showed me in CHCH so I was picking an auckland server to test to, if I let it pick I get connected to a wellington server and my speeds are normal!

According to the Fritz logs I'm connecting to the AK BB POP.

Yea its not so bad now.

Looks like it could be congestion at those times.

hmm, I doubt it, I just did a test to an akl ST server, 10mbit, ping to TM = 7ms, then did another ping to TM = 25ms and now ST to AK server is back up to full speed again!! This was over the course of a few mins!

They must be playing with routing or something.

Yea, What ever is going on is affecting my connection to everything.

Playing BF3 on a Sydney server my latency was spiking upto 400ms.

Aren't Sundays the worst day for heavy broadband usage... and the steam (+others) summer sale is on; perfect storm for congestion maybe? I'd still be interested to see how you go tonight though, I'm still keen to sign up for VDSL2 and snap still looks like the most economical option.

Same route to TM as yesterday.

On ADSL I'm seeing severely reduced downloads as well as no updating of data usage on Snap's website. I'll be making a call tomorrow to see what customer support says.
