Hey, im just curious, i've never seen this mentioned anywhere, but when your phone connects to a 3G network, does it automaticly get an ip address for say a day, or does it get a new one each time a data session is activated?

Or is the cell site like my home router, like does each cell site have it's own address that each device feeds off?

It pretty much 'leases' it for about 2 hours on 3G, if you go to your network details when conected it should tell you the approx DHCP lease time.

cheers

All my printers are constantly connected to 2degress, all there IP's changed on or around 5am this morning, I will wait see when the change again to see if it is any particular time. I had some bad firmware once that would reconnect every 30 seconds or so and that got a different ip each time.

They will change whenever your connection restarts. That could be because the device restarts it, or because the network causes it to restart. But as long as the connection remains active your IP address does not change.

iPad Pro 11" + iPhone 15 Pro Max + 2degrees 4tw!

Yeah, your probably right. Just remembered they auto reboot at 5am.
